1979 United Way of Greater Hartford changes its name to United Way of the Capital Area
In 1988, the community recognized that area shelters, pantries, soup kitchens and child care centers needed a center to purchase food in bulk.
United Way of Americawas selected by Financial World magazine as the charity of choice in 1994 for its leadership in not-for-profit ethics and accountability.
