    Government Affairs Intern The Nevada Contractors Association (NCA) is seeking a Government Affairs Intern to gain hands-on experience in legislative monitoring, policy research, and advocacy supporting NCA's legislative priorities. The intern will assist with researching legislation, drafting policy summaries, and supporting government affairs initiatives. This role works closely with the NCA CEO, outside lobbyists, and members of the Government Affairs Committee, while helping strengthen NCA's presence at the state level throughout the legislative session and beyond. About Us: The Nevada Contractors Association (NCA) is a 501(c)(6) trade specific association in Nevada. NCA advocates on behalf of the construction industry and its members. Membership includes general contractors, subcontractors, specialty contractors, and various professional suppliers and services firms. The NCA provides networking opportunities, safety & training programs, marketing opportunities, community outreach projects, and other business development and professional growth opportunities within NCA and its national affiliation, AGC of America. We provide resources to all construction-related businesses: small or large, union or non-union, DBE, etc. Responsibilities: (This section describes the primary duties of the internship; it does not include every task that may be assigned.) Track legislative and executive actions that could impact members of the Nevada Contractors Association. Assist in representing NCA before legislative committees, legislators, and staff to support pending legislation and promote NCA's values. Work closely with the NCA CEO, outside lobbyists, and active members of the Government Affairs Committee. Support relationship-building efforts with legislators, agency staff, and industry partners. Travel to the state capital for meetings and legislative sessions, as needed. Assist in organizing the Association's annual PAC fundraising event and supporting PAC-related initiatives. Help identify opportunities to promote NCA's positions through coalitions and strategic alliances. Analyze legislative proposals and prepare summaries for NCA staff and members. Support coordination with NCA staff and committees on government affairs needs, including issue summaries, presentations, and policy inquiries. Maintain confidentiality of all personnel, legislative, and research matters. Attend and assist at NCA events, including setup and teardown, using a personal vehicle. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Education- Currently enrolled in or recently completed coursework in public policy, political science, business, urban studies, government administration, or a closely related field (degree completion not required). Experience and Qualifications- Strong interest in government affairs, public policy, advocacy, or the construction industry. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Proficiency with basic office tools and programs (e.g., Microsoft Office, email, phones, printing/faxing). Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a team.
