Our program provides one of the more robust OB experiences in the Northeast for our 12-12-12 residency program. Highland Hospital delivers approximately 3000 babies per year and has historically had an impressively low 20% Cesarean rate. Our longstanding Surgical Obstetrics fellowship is expanding from 2 to 4 fellows per year with a new emphasis on training physicians for rural practice funded by our recent HRSA grant. This one-year faculty appointment is designed to train Family Medicine physicians high-risk obstetrics, surgical assisting, and management of common newborn conditions. You will be trained in rural health care, prenatal care, obstetric ultrasound, newborn resuscitation and stabilization, care of newborns in the Special Care Nursery, and care of high-risk obstetrical conditions. in high risk/surgical obstetrics and management of common newborn conditions. The Clinical Evaluator documents their evaluation and assessments in ASAP and presents the patients current status, recent history and collateral information to the CPEP psychiatrist who uses that information in conducting their own psychiatric evaluation and medical decision-making regarding disposition, Clinical Evaluator functions include identification and intervention around individual and systemic barriers to discharge; collaboration with other agencies, services, community providers as needed towards achieving discharge; notification and involvement of administrative personnel as needed to achieve a safe discharge. **ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS** + Conducts comprehensive clinical evaluation and risk assessments, including obtaining collateral information and review of recent clinical history for patients across the age spectrum as assigned who present to the CPEP in crisis. Provides assessment and intervention services to children and adults suspected of being victims of abuse, neglect or domestic violence in line with program and hospital policy and procedure + Provides clinical crisis interventions to patients across the age span who present to CPEP in a wide range of psychosocial crisis.
