A caregiver in this position works evenings from 3:00 p.m. - 11:30 p.m. including every other weekend and 3 holidays per year. A caregiver who excels in this role will: * Prepare units, patient rooms and patient beds for receiving patient admission, returning surgical patients, transfers or emergencies. * Provide and document assigned care, such as bathing, changing/refreshing bed linens, dressing/undressing, feeding, etc. * Take and document the patient's temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, weight and height. * Perform treatment procedures, such as venous blood draws, enemas, application of ice and heat packs, non-sterile compresses, skin preps, setting up oxygen equipment, bed scale weights, setting up overhead trapeze and Buck's traction and removing urinary Foley Catheters. * Assist with pre-operative and post-operative care, such as turning and positioning patients with proper body mechanics, applying/utilizing special equipment and ambulating the patient as directed in a safe, prescribed manner. * Assist and accompany patients during admission, transfer and discharge. * Perform hourly safety rounds, anticipate patient needs and respond to patient call lights promptly. * Collect, properly label and transport specimens to proper area. * Document patient care in the electronic medical record. * Assist in keeping patient rooms in order, report equipment that is out of order, clean equipment and inventory and distribute unit linen and supplies. * Complete ongoing competency requirements, education programs and mandatory training to maintain certification and/or licensure.
