We are looking for a Patient Care Technician to join our collaborative team at Memorial Health! What You'll Do: * Supports the licensed nurses by assuming responsibility for direct and indirect patient care, such as assisting with activities of daily living, personal care, comfort measures, and maintenance of a safe and clean environment, in an effort to provide optimum patient outcome and efficiencies to flow.
* Collects patient data such as vital signs, weights, I & O, and point of care fingerstick blood glucose then identifies and reports significant findings to the licensed nurse. Documents findings and care within established timeframes. Assists patients with calling for transportation as needed; monitors the overall appearance of the lobbies and entrances; assists and directs patients regarding the registration process and Hospital procedures.
* Communicates professionally and appropriately at all times with staff, patients, and visitors. Maintains accurate employee records. Demonstrates the concept of teamwork. Serves as primary resource for patients and guests by greeting, instructing and directing patients in a prompt, courteous and helpful manner; serves as a liaison between patients, staff and other departments; demonstrates being proactive and solution focused; sets example of customer service for all employees to emulate; provides wheelchair assistance as needed; responds to inquiries and directs parties to appropriate authority.
* Uses equipment appropriately. Charges supplies accurately. Processes used linen, trash, instruments, sharps and waste products at completion at appropriate times.
* Performs administrative duties as necessary such as: entering and retrieving data, breakdown of charts.
* Responsible for accurate record keeping and proper notification of abnormal vital signs, patient conditions, or alarms.
* Responds to emergencies outside normal working hours (i.e. internal and external disasters); may work rotating shifts, required to work weekend and holiday shifts as scheduled or assigned.

* Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.

Our section manages the acute Pulmonary Embolism Response Team (PERT), and we operate non-invasive vascular laboratory for the entire enterprise (around 55,000 studies annually).

A caregiver in this position works part-time evenings from 12:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. + on-call with rotating weekend and holiday requirements.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
* Perform blood collection procedures, follow venipuncture procedures and maintain appropriate log sheets.
* Verify order requests and identify information prior to drawing blood or collecting the specimen/kit.
* Label all specimens collected and deliver them to the appropriate processing area.
* Perform specimen processing and send out tasks, including accessioning, centrifugation and packaging.
* Pick up and deliver blood, other sample types and lab supplies.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
* High School Diploma or GED
* Technical proficiency with standard procedures, techniques and common practices
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
* Formal Phlebotomy Certification OR Medical Assisting training
Physical Requirements:
* Requires frequent and long durations of standing and walking.
* Visual acuity including the ability to distinguish colors.
* Manual dexterity sufficient to manipulate blood drawing equipment and make measurements.
Personal Protective Equipment:
* Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Pay Range
Minimum hourly: $17.95
Maximum hourly: $25.50
