    Rasmuson Library is currently looking for students for our Circulation counter for check-in and check-out, book-stacks maintenance, and patron assistance. Up to 20 hours per week during the academic year with various shifts available that may include evenings and weekends. Under the general direction of Circulation Supervisors, must have the ability to learn and perform assigned work; follow written and oral instructions; ability to file alphanumerically; work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students; communicate effectively with all levels; and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position. This is a non-supervisory position in which you will encounter minor problems daily and occasional difficult ones which a Circulation Supervisor will be required for help and instruction. Responsible person with ability to work with minimal supervision and perform detailed, monotonous work with a high degree of accuracy. Strong attention to detail. Flexibility to learn a variety of tasks and work with multiple departments. Ability to maintain confidentiality and conduct self in accordance with University Regulations and Alaska Library Statutes. Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must be currently enrolled as a UAF student taking a minimum of 6 credits per semester with a minimum GPA of 2.0 or a newly enrolled student.     Event Services Assistants assist and support community members and residential students who have a variety of needs, questions, and issues; promote an ethos of belonging and engagement with the community on UAA's residential campus; and support the many aspects of Event Services at UAA. The role of the Event Services Assistant is typically a one-year position. Event Services is the department that handles the majority of events on campus as well as long-term guest housing for non-students. We have customer service related tasks, cleaning tasks, event tasks, and a variety of special projects that come up. The Event Services student position has 3 main components. The first main component is the office hours where the student sits at the main desk, answers phone calls and emails, and fills in event requests from submitted forms. They will need to be able to assist with walk-in clients as well and keep the office presentable. The second main component are event duties where the student will need to set up events, work events, and break down events. The third main component is centered around our long-term guest housing. We clean and prep rooms and have an on-duty 24/7 phone that is on a weekly rotation with the student staff to assist current guests as needed. To thrive in this role, a student needs to have a willingness to learn and be part of the team. We have a lot of little steps that go into the big picture and they have to be done well by each member of the team. Attention to detail, quality customer services, and reliability are all attributes that will help a student with the tasks required of them.     The UAA/APU Consortium Library supports the educational and research programs of the University of Alaska Anchorage and Alaska Pacific University as well as serving as a major research library for Southcentral Alaska. The Circulation Department at the Consortium Library is responsible for the maintenance of the collection for public access, circulating materials into and out of the library, and providing a first point of contact for general patron questions. Circulation student assistants perform a variety of tasks necessary for maintaining the collection and provide support services to Circulation staff and to other library departments. Student assistants DO NOT staff the Circulation Desk, but do work in various areas throughout the library on a daily basis. Although personal preferences will be considered, the Consortium Library has extensive hours and student assistants will be expected and scheduled to work around their classes within these hours: Monday-Friday 7:30am to 10pm Saturday-Sunday 10am to 10pm Student assistants will be scheduled to work up to a maximum of 20 hours per week during semesters, with the possibility of working up to 40 hours per week during the summer and winter breaks.
