Summary of Job Duties:BENEFITS ELIGIBLE - This position offers part-time hours ranging from 20 to 30 hours per week, with a schedule that includes daytime shifts. There are no night, weekend, or most State holiday commitments associated with this role.

Primary duties will be to triage to determine the urgency of patient care, handle all crisis calls, answer medication questions in collaboration with physicians, take vital signs, review lab work and present exceptions to physicians, provide clinical assessment for initial call backs and other duties as assigned.

The In-House Agency RN Program offers PRN employment for 13-week intervals. Participants are required to work 36 hours/week for 13 weeks and will be paid a competitive hourly rate plus weekend differentials. To qualify, applicants must have a valid RN license issued by the State of Arkansas and 12 months experience in an acute care hospital. Experience in the past 12 months must include 6 months in a direct patient care role in an acute care hospital. Applicants cannot be currently employed by UAMS, and previous UAMS employees must have terminated more than 180 days prior.

Specialty areas, i.e.., Intensive Care, F4 Surgical Trauma are required to pass a pre-screening testing with a minimum score of 80%
Chemotherapy certification may be required to work Oncology units

This 30-bed Medical Surgical unit provides care to adult patients with post-operative conditions. Orthopedic procedures include digit and limb re-implantation, joint replacement, re-constructive surgery and the latest in internal and external fixation of fractures. In addition, nurses care for Head and Neck (ENT) as well as Plastic surgery patients including microvascular free flaps. The needs of the surgical patient bring together the physician, nurse, social worker, rehabilitation specialists, respiratory therapist, patient educator, case manager and dietician for a multidisciplinary approach to care.

Summary of Job Duties:The Registered Nurse will support the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry by coordinating and delivering clinical care across programs such as the Child Study Center, Six Bridges, and STRIVE Clinics. Working under the Director of Outpatient Programs, the RN will manage clinic operations, assist psychiatrists, supervise nursing staff, oversee patient triage, and ensure accurate EPIC documentation and medication management. This role involves providing direct patient care, educating patients and families, facilitating appointments, coordinating transitions of care, reviewing intake referrals, and serving as a liaison between medical, therapy, and community partners-including the emergency room and pediatric clinics. The RN will also lead scheduling and organizational functions for medication and teaching clinics, support group activities, gather patient histories, and help maintain efficient patient flow. The NPCU is a 30-bed unit specializing in neurological and neurosurgical diagnoses. Neuroscience nursing at UAMS is part of the Critical Care Division. Our nurses receive focused education and competency assessment for common neuroscience concepts, monitoring, procedures, and devices. The Registered Nurse provides direct patient care to assigned patients in Medical Specialties (F6). This unit has an inpatient capacity of 30 beds. Patients receive comprehensive medical care which spans diagnosis and periodic re-admissions for treatment. Specialty nursing skills utilized on these units include provision of support to families and patients related to the psychosocial and emotional issues encountered with the diagnoses. A multidisciplinary approach to care is utilized and includes a social worker, pharmacist, clinical nurse specialist, and dietitian.
The Patient Education Department provides assistance to staff in the development of education materials and provides ongoing patient education classes for patients and their families. Care is provided to a broad spectrum of patients including general medicine, pulmonary, gastrointestinal illness and infectious diseases. We strongly believe in patient and family centered care and plan our care with the patient as the primary focus. The partnership between healthcare providers and the patient and families are designed to meet individual spiritual, emotional, social and medical needs.
