General Summary
Under direct supervision of the Pipefitter Foreman, performs skilled worked in the Pipefitter and welding trades.
Required Qualifications
1. Certificate of completion of apprenticeship as a Pipefitter under a registered Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training program
OR
Experience sufficient to qualify as a journeyman Pipefitter, with a minimum of 5 years of actual work in the trade, which may have included apprenticeship and/or applicable vocational training. The trade for this purpose shall include work normally performed by Pipefitters, Pipefitter Welders, Refrigeration Mechanics, temperature Control Mechanics, Oil Burner Mechanics, and Leadburners.
2. Valid driver's license.
3. A final candidate must complete a post-offer pre-employment physical exam. Employment is contingent on the successful result of the pre-employment physical.
Desired Qualifications
1. Journeyman Pipefitter and certified welder.
2. Ability to read 2" gauges on various equipment.
3. Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing. Communications required in person, by telephone, by email and over campus radio system.
4. Ability to comprehend verbal and written instructions and written materials.
5. Possess mathematical skills to calculate material lists and pricing.
6. Knowledge sufficient in techniques and uses of various tools associated with Heating Plant duties.

REPORTS TO: Director of Facility Operations and District Lead Workmen
JOB SUMMARY: Assists in a variety of functions under the direction of supervisors, including general maintenance, grounds, painting, moving, carpentry, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other duties in support of District-wide operations.
QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to work cooperatively with others, take direction from appropriate supervisors.
Must be able to work an eight-hour shift, five days a week.
Must have the physical ability to perform a wide variety of assigned duties.
Good health and character - Negative TB test required.
Familiar with safety precautions and the use of power tools, lawn equipment, and other power type equipment.
Must possess a valid driver's license and provide own transportation to various sites throughout the district.
Must provide a high school diploma or GED equivalent, if requested.
Must act professional and respectful, and perform duties in a manner that is conducive to providing an appropriate learning environment for staff and students.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those encountered while performing the essential functions of this job. Work is performed inside and outside; the outside environment includes exposure to inclement weather, heat and humidity. Must be able to lift and move objects up to 40 pounds consistently with heavier weight necessary at times. Ability to climb in overhead structures (no fear of heights), to work beneath machines and in close quarters performing repair work; stand for long periods and good physical strength and stamina.
PAY SCALE AND BENEFIT DISCLOSURE:
Pay Rate: $15.00 - $16.00 Per Hour (pending position)

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Generally, the work week will be 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with scheduled breaks. Dates will be from late spring through summer, actual days to be determined by the Facility Operations Department. Additional dates may include the school district's fall and spring breaks, as needed.

Extra Help employees may only work up to 28 hours per week for all University employment. Employees are only paid for hours worked and do not qualify for most benefits including health insurance and retirement, with Illinois State University. However, Extra Help employees are eligible to participate in the University's supplemental retirement savings plans (403b). Applicable retirement information is provided at the time of hire. There is no guarantee that working as Extra Help will lead to or secure permanent employment. In addition, extra help employees may only work up to 900 hours total during their employment.

Maintenance/Custodial/Maintenance - HVAC Helper
Primary Purpose: Under general supervision of the District HVAC Technician. Assist HVAC technicians in the installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. Responsibilities include transporting tools and equipment, preparing work areas, cleaning and maintaining HVAC parts, and providing general labor support to ensure projects are completed efficiently. The role requires physical stamina, basic mechanical skills, and the ability to follow instructions and safety procedures. Qualifications: Education/Certification:
High School Diploma or GED
Must be 18 years of age or older
Must have a valid Texas Driver's license
Must be insurable to drive district vehicles
Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting check
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to work independently with little direction and with other district maintenance personnel
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
Good oral and written communication skills (proficient in English)
Ability to work around District students and staff
Ability to complete tasks in a timely manner

Assist HVAC personnel in the Installation, repair and maintenance of HVAC equipment.
Assist workers by performing the following duties: Carrying, furnishing and maintaining material, tools, equipment and supplies. Clean and prepare work areas. Lift, pull, position, and hold materials and tools.
Assume the responsibility of a district vehicle and make sure the vehicle and tools are stocked and in working order.
Ability to work off of ladders lifts and on roofs.
Drive and operate a district vehicle and travel to various district sites.
Maintain accurate, updated records of maintenance done at each campus.
Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Operate a variety of equipment, tools, and machines.
Responsible for using equipment properly.
Responsible for maintaining equipment.
Keep supervisor abreast of needed repairs, supplies, and equipment needed.
Must maintain proper district attire.
Exhibit punctuality and dependability on the job.
Demonstrate the ability to attend work on a regular and routine basis to avoid disruption to the district operations.
Perform other duties as assigned.
