Summary of Job Duties:The PatientCareTechnician (PCT) is a trained member of the unit based team who supports the on-going delivery of care as identified by the multidisciplinary Patient Management Team. H7 Medical Oncology Unit has 30 private rooms and provides state of the art therapies to a wide range of medical oncology patients and family medicine patients. Practicing in this environment allows the RN to develop skills in chemotherapy and biotherapy administration, management of a range of IV central access devices, management of a variety of symptoms associated with the disease process and/or treatment, and development of skills in emotional support and palliative care. This area also provides learning opportunities in all areas of medical-surgical nursing. A strong interdisciplinary team including physicians, nurses, pharmacists, nutritionists, and social workers support the patient in their various therapies.

H7 Medical Oncology Unit has 30 private rooms and provides state of the art therapies to a wide range of medical oncology patients and family medicine patients. Practicing in this environment allows the RN to develop skills in chemotherapy and biotherapy administration, management of a range of IV central access devices, management of a variety of symptoms associated with the disease process and/or treatment, and development of skills in emotional support and palliative care. This area also provides learning opportunities in all areas of medical-surgical nursing. A strong interdisciplinary team including physicians, nurses, pharmacists, nutritionists, and social workers support the patient in their various therapies.
