Temporary Part-Time PRN (as needed) / Shifts vary
The In-House Agency RN Program offers PRN employment for 13-week intervals. Participants are required to work 36 hours/week for 13 weeks and will be paid a competitive hourly rate plus weekend differentials. To qualify, applicants must have a valid RN license issued by the State of Arkansas and 12 months experience in an acute care hospital. Experience in the past 12 months must include 6 months in a direct patient care role in an acute care hospital. Applicants cannot be currently employed by UAMS, and previous UAMS employees must have terminated more than 180 days prior.

Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program with an Associate Degree, Nursing Diploma, Bachelor's in Nursing, or Master's in Nursing
Valid RN License
Nursing Experience: minimum of 12 months of experience as an RN in an acute care hospital
Experience in the last 12 months may include up to 6 months in a management position, but must include at least 6 months in a direct patient care role in an acute care hospital
Excellent communication skills
Basic computer skills
Strong work ethics and accountability
Specialty areas, i.e.., Intensive Care, F4 Surgical Trauma are required to pass a pre-screening testing with a minimum score of 80%
Chemotherapy certification may be required to work Oncology units
Work one major holiday and one additional holiday if applicable, in addition to every other weekend throughout the duration of the 13-week RN Internal Contract agreement period.

Appropriately refer patients to Advanced Practice RegisteredNurses (APRNs), Physicians, and off-site services;

Comply with OSHA and clinic protocols regarding infectious disease prevention and control, including proper handling and disposal of infectious waste, gloving and sharps management/disposal, and proper disinfection of exam rooms and equipment;
Maintain and document proper storage of vaccines as per ADH protocols, including completion of daily temperature log for refrigerator and freezer and regular inspection of expiration dates and proper disposal of expired vaccines;
Participate and contribute to the development and implementation of campus health outreach programs;
Perform CLIA waived tests and collect, package, route, and track lab specimens to off-site reference laboratory as directed;
Perform tuberculosis screening and follow-up; including documentation of results in the Arkansas Department of Health tuberculosis database;
Participate in regular staff meetings and contribute to progress toward developing and addressing Health Services' goals and objectives;
Participate and contribute to quality improvement programs for Health Services;

Summary of Job Duties:Schedule: PRN, As Needed Basis
Shifts Vary, Equivalent of 24 hours on a regularly scheduled basis (monthly).
The 24 hours is typically 2-12 hours or 3-8 hour shifts, but the shifts could change based on the need of the unit/clinic.
This posting will be used to fill multiple positions
The RegisteredNurse will require the ability to coordinate care for patients, triage patients, and work collaboratively with clinic providers, fellows, and staff. Requires the ability to effectively work with patient referral sources, facilitate appointments, coordinate transitions of care, and provide patient education on complex conditions. The RN I will work with the individual patient, their families, and providers of care to develop and implement individual health plans within the ICU's, Medical/Surgical and Oncology units.
PRN staff are not eligible to receive benefits, but may contribute to pre-tax supplemental Retirement.
Qualifications:
Required:
Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program with Associates Degree, Nursing Diploma, Bachelors in Nursing, or Master's in Nursing.
Valid RN License.
Nursing Experience
One (1) year patient care experience similar to or related to the position applied for
Excellent communication skills.
Basic computer skills.
Strong work ethics and accountability.
Specialty areas, i.e.., Intensive Care, F4 Surgical Trauma are required to pass a pre-screening testing with a minimum score of 80%
Chemotherapy certification may be required to work Oncology units
Work one major holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas, Christmas Eve or New Year ) and one additional holiday, in addition to two weekend shifts.
PRN staff are only allowed to work 1000 hours in a 12 month rolling year, which begins at orientation and includes any education hours.

Responsibilities:
Provides direct patient care to assigned patients within the Adult ICU's, Medical/Surgical, and Oncology units.
Provides triage, assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care and patient education either by telephone or within the UAMS Clinic.
Delivers nursing care according to standards as defined by UAMS, American Nurses Association (ANA), AR State Board of Nursing, (ASBN), and those set forth by nursing specialty organizations.
Helps develop patient's Plan of Care (POC) per clinic standards utilizing assessment data.
Evaluates the progress of patients' toward attainment of desired outcomes.
Administers medication following clinic standards and Nurse Practice Act.
Verifies and evaluates care delivered to ensure care is consistent with standards and regulatory requirements.
Coordinates care and/or follow-up for patients who receive care in inpatient and outpatient facilities.

The RegisteredNurse provides patient care to assigned patients in the H8 Neuroscience Progressive Care Unit (NPCU). The NPCU is a 30-bed unit specializing in neurological and neurosurgical diagnoses. Neuroscience nursing at UAMS is part of the Critical Care Division. Our nurses receive focused education and competency assessment for common neuroscience concepts, monitoring, procedures, and devices. The NPCU works closely with the Neurocritical Care area and can facilitate transfer for the right candidate.
UAMS is designated as a Comprehensive Stroke Certified Center, providing the highest level of acute stroke care, Comprehensive Level 4 Epilepsy Center, providing the highest level of epilepsy monitoring and treatment, and recognized by Healthgrades with the 2022 Cranial Neurosurgery Excellence Award.
Neurosurgical services include:
• Pre and post-op care for procedures

The RegisteredNurse provides direct patient care to assigned patients in our Labor & Delivery Unit (E5). UAMS Labor and Delivery unit is located in the Harry P. Ward Clinical Tower. The unit consists of 14 LDR rooms, four triage observational beds, two operating rooms suites, a three bed recovery room area and two state of the art Neonatal Stabilization rooms used to stabilize acutely ill neonates with specially trained staff from the Intensive Care Nursery. Labor and Delivery provides high-risk obstetrical care for patients all over the state. On average, this unit performs approximately 300-330 deliveries per month. The LDR rooms allow the expectant mother to labor, deliver, and recover in the birthing suites with family support. E5 Labor and Delivery supports patient and family centered care and as a result, the newborns, if stable, are allowed to stay with their mother's after delivery to promote bonding.

This area is a 30-bed medical/surgical patient care unit that provides 24 hour care to acutely ill patients as well as palliative care for specialty patients and hospice patients. H6 provides care to a wide variety of patients such as Liver Disease, End-Stage Renal Disease, Respiratory Conditions, Immune Systems Diseases, Gastro-Intestinal Disease, and Musculoskeletal/Integumentary Diseases. Remote telemetry is available for patients who are presenting with clinical cardiac concerns who present with a history of cardiac disease. We also provide pre/postoperative care as well. The patient population ranges from young adult to geriatric.

Summary of Job Duties:The RegisteredNurse (RN) provides direct patient care to assigned patients in the combined Transitional Care (A7) and Short Stay (A4) units. A7/A4 is composed of 27 adult medical surgical beds collectively. These unique units with smaller bed capacity and medically stable patients support the opportunity to fully implement the RN and LPN team model of care. A shared charge RN will oversee shift to shift operations of both units, allowing for staffing flexibility tailored to meet the changing care needs of those populations.
The 14 bed Transitional Care Unit (A7) will provide care to patients who are deemed ready for acute care discharge from UAMS by their physician and have experienced a delay in discharge. The 13 bed Short Stay Unit on (A4) will provide care to medical-surgical patients that meet specific criteria for stability, and are anticipated to discharge within 48 hours.

The RegisteredNurse (RN) performs telephonic patient triage using decision-making software, assists with patient consults and transports, uses videoconferencing equipment for telemedicine operations. Provides telephone or interactive conferenced patient triage to specific patient populations and any follow-up calls, emails, and EMR documentation.
Provides clinical review to callers requesting inbound patient transports, connects to the appropriate UAMS physician, records clinical interaction during report, and provides administrative backup for patient acceptance, including follow-up calls and e-mails for preregistration, ADON/facility notifications, and access team coordination, and arranges for nurse-to-nurse report at time of transport.
Assists with care via videoconferencing of stroke patients who are contracted with ARSAVES and works with video support to arrange video connection of site locations, the stroke neurologist, and UAMS, then assists with arranging patient transport and follow-ups as required.
Assists with management of the Trauma Image Repository as needed.
Assist in identifying and tracking all calls to the Call Center and data on referrals and case-managed patients.
Provides support to research activities related to the IDHI Call Center programs.
Promotes positive interaction and facilitates communication between the consultation center, UAMS, and physicians statewide and their offices who utilize the services of the consultation center
Provides requested reports to appropriate personnel, analyzes and identifies critical factors of patient care to facilitate enhancement of the quality and efficiency of the consultation center.

Summary of Job Duties:The RegisteredNurse is responsible for providing direct patient care and the provision of other patient services in a clinical setting. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency policy.
Under the direction of the of the Director and Associate Director, the RN Clinical Expeditor, in real time will expedite, prioritize, synchronize and mediate clinical issues which are barriers to discharge and delays in patient care. The RN will play a pivotal role in decreasing barriers, improve patient access and enhance quality of care using clinical expertise throughout the patients stay and discharge process. The RN Clinical Expeditor collaborates and provides support to healthcare providers, patients, physicians and other members of the multi-disciplinary care team to ensure consistent application of procedures, patient flow processes and optimal communication to improve patient discharge and patient flow at UAMS. The clinical expediter will work closely with Case Management at the local level to identify and help remove barriers to discharge and patient flow.

Responsibilities:
Expedites, prioritizes, synchronizes and mediates clinical issues, barriers to discharge, and delays in patient care.
Triages alerts and situational awareness via investigation per the electronic medical record and additional clinical resources.
Communicates and partners with the Associate Directors of Nursing during times of movement prioritization within a specific area/location/nursing unit.
Manages deviations from patient care pathways; resolve bottlenecks, optimize and prioritize with support services and a variety of clinical departments. ·
Provides insight and information and work with Command Center leadership to address patient flow issues.
In concert with Case Management, strategizes and prioritizes needs for long length of stay or complex discharge patients.
Collaborates with Command Center operations, Acute Care leadership, and Quality to identify process improvement strategies, patient length of stay (LOS), trend delays, support quality initiatives, and enhance patient safety.
Defines patient activity triggers and feedback mechanisms to inform operational team members, physician leaders, and administrative teams to mitigate over-capacity situations.
Develops strategies to manage a surge in patient volumes
Interacts with and assists the public in a professional and friendly manner as needed.
Demonstrates effective communication skills; communicates accurate and complete information; maintains strict confidentiality when necessary.
Demonstrates positive working relationships with co-workers, management team, and ancillary departments; follows the Core Concepts of Patient and Family Centered Care and the Basic Code of Conduct Guidelines.
Assist internal and external stakeholders as needed with exceptional customer service.
