This role is responsible for the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and calibration of on-going field measurements of carbon, water and energy exchange between vegetation canopies and the atmosphere and the environmental sensors that measure the condition of the air, soil and water. The Lab Research Technician trains and provides lead work direction to undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral scholars, and visitors on laboratory and field techniques, as needed. This position writes analysis reports on sensor performance tests and calibrations, data quality and gap filling, and processes raw meteorological data to compute eddy covariance fluxes of mass and energy exchange. The Lab Research Technician also assists with the development and testing of new sensors and methods. Responsibilities Contribute to the Design, Execution and Reporting of Research Studies: * In consultation with the project leader, (e.g. faculty), help propose research questions. * Develop new research protocols and methods based on the proposed research questions. * Carry out proposed research design from inception to data collection, required reports, granting agencies and publications. * Lead graduate and undergraduate researchers in conducting the above studies. * Contribute to the preparation of publications and conference presentations.
