The Department of Medicine is comprised of 11 divisions representing various subspecialties. The Division of Hospital Medicine & Palliative Medicine delivers high-acuity, multidisciplinary care across the enterprise and supports a growing faculty base engaged in clinical, research, and academic missions. The administrative team provides critical infrastructure to support faculty operations, clinical scheduling, onboarding, academic actions, and institutional compliance, ensuring the division's continued success and growth.
Responsibilities
Under the general supervision of the Division Administrator for the Division of Hospital Medicine & Palliative Medicine, the Administrative Officer II (AO2) provides high-level administrative support to Division Leadership and plays a key role in managing a variety of operational functions. The AO2 is responsible for coordinating academic personnel actions, overseeing the onboarding of faculty and Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), scheduling and coordinating learner rotations and evaluations, managing provider profiles and compliance, and contributing to strategic planning efforts. Additionally, the AO2 serves as a liaison between division leadership and administrative staff, ensuring smooth communication and efficient operations. The AO2 also supports clinical operations by assisting with faculty clinic scheduling, including the creation, modification, and closure of clinic templates based on approved time off and clinical assignments. The position monitors clinical productivity across division sites, tracks performance against established benchmarks, and escalates any issues to the Division Administrator as necessary. In addition, the AO2 plays a vital role in the seamless onboarding of new faculty and APPs, ensuring that all operational and systems readiness requirements are met. By collaborating with other administrative staff, the AO2 helps maintain operational continuity, streamline workflows, and improve administrative processes across the division, contributing to the overall efficiency of day-to-day operations.

This is an immediate opening for a scientist who is excited by the prospect of helping to identify, design and implement new data science approaches and tools to enhance the efficiency and useability of NED, and exploring new extragalactic archive science enabled by NED.
The primary responsibility of this position is to contribute to keeping the content of the database current and accurate, particularly in view of the rapidly growing volume of data in the astrophysics literature.
Essential Job Duties As a NED scientist, you will: Apply NED's current methods for locating, extracting, transforming, and integrating data into the system.
Work with scientists and engineers on the team to develop and apply new tools to accelerate the flow and fusion of data into NED.
Perform science-based validation of NED data, including vetting the results of automated cross-matching software.
Respond to user support requests related to the scientific content of NED.
Help to design and validate NED services and interfaces to enable science use cases for NED data.
Conduct research, including archival research exploiting NED's content and data synthesis.
Basic Qualifications PhD in astronomy, physics, computer science or a related field.
Two years of post-PhD experience in astronomy.
Knowledge of astronomical coordinate systems, nomenclature, astrometry, photometry, galaxy classifications, and observational techniques.
Demonstrated experience in at least one stage of the production or validation, or analysis of astronomical data sets.
Experience in computer programming.
Familiarity in methodology used in astronomy and data science.

Job Summary Caltech Optical Observatories (COO) is seeking a talented Electrical Engineer or Physicist interested in scientific imaging technologies to join an enthusiastic and creative electronics team within the multidisciplinary Optical/Infrared (OIR) Instrumentation group.
While fostering a community of respect, learning, and individual growth, the OIR group designs, fabricates, and commissions astronomical instrumentation systems for ground-based observatories such as Palomar, Gemini, Keck, as well as developing telescopes in space and the Antarctic.
The candidate will contribute to conceptualization, design, procurement, characterization, optimization, integration, and commissioning of state-of-the-art detector systems that advance the frontiers of human knowledge in astronomy, cosmology, and planetary science.
Previous and anticipated projects conducted by the COO detector team include deployment of ultraviolet, optical, and near-infrared detectors in large-format mosaics requiring rapid readout, spectrograph detector systems demanding exquisite noise performance, and fast-frame-rate detectors for adaptive optics (wavefront sensing in both optical and NIR).
Our group is currently developing large-format charge-quantizing CCDs that do not suffer from the unacceptable readout time of previous implementations.
Additionally, the COO team conducts basic research into phenomena affecting the feasibility or design of future space missions and large telescopes, including how device physics limits measurement accuracy.
To this end, COO has developed novel device characterization and calibration methods to mitigate these sources of systematic errors.
