The Research Assistant will provide research and administrative support to the principal investigator(s) (PI) of the assigned project(s). The incumbent will assist the PI in meeting the objectives of a HRSA-funded curricular development grant within the Division of General Internal Medicine, including data collection through review and analysis of qualitative and quantitative educational data, creating educational materials and presentations, assistance with writing study reports and IRB applications, and assistance in preparing scholarly articles and presentations. The incumbent will help manage applications for new funding opportunities. The incumbent will also provide administrative support to the PI, including scheduling, processing reimbursements and assisting with submitting manuscripts for publication.
More specifically, the incumbent will conduct research operations such as:
Collaborating on design, documentation, and implementation of curricular innovations and program evaluation
Collecting data via surveys, focus groups, and interviews
Conducting literature reviews and systematic reviews
Developing and maintain research gathering, retrieval and reporting systems.
Cleaning, managing, and analyzing data
Conducting statistical studies in support of research proposals and protocols.
Coordinating research/program team meetings, taking notes, managing project timelines, and ensuring follow-up of deliverables
Preparing and submitting scientific manuscripts
Developing scientific presentations in partnership with the PI
Applying principles in stakeholder engagement for large-funded projects and grant applications
Managing project budgets for participant compensation, reimbursement, and other study supplies
And the incumbent will also support the PI by managing administrative operations. This includes:
Assist with scheduling meetings with the PI, study team, collaborators, and research participants
Drafting and editing correspondence
Attending study-related meetings keep minutes, and perform other duties as assigned
When possible, developing policies and procedures to ensure that the team's operations, including its file and project management systems, collaboration tools, and dissemination activities run smoothly and efficiently.
When applicable, assisting in supervising and coaching early career employees to support research activities and study coordination
Flexibility and willingness to adapt to the evolving needs of the program are essential for success in this position.

POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Deputy Director for the John Gardner Center, the Quantitative Research Associate collaborate with Gardner Center staff and community partners to design and carry out rigorous, actionable, and capacity building research that responds to the partner's needs and enables them to make research-informed decisions that advance their efforts to improve the lives of youth, families, and communities.
CORE DUTIES:
* Develop and carry out research designs that utilize the most robust quantitative methods possible given project parameters (e.g., timeline, budget). This includes collecting, securing, cleaning, verifying, documenting, coding, and analyzing data using a variety of methods.
* Ensure quantitative and qualitative dimensions of a study are seamlessly integrated from initial design through final reporting.
* Meet with partners on an ongoing basis to review research activities, interim findings, and evolving analyses.
* Communicate research findings to a variety of interested, invested, and impacted parties, including academic and community audiences. This may include writing and presenting interim research updates, non-technical research summaries, and peer-reviewed studies for leading peer-reviewed journals.
* Participate actively as a collaborative member of the Gardner Center team, contributing to a vibrant, generative community dedicated to community engaged scholarship in the service of ensuring the wellbeing of our most vulnerable youth, families, and communities. This includes attending regular staff meetings and retreats, supervising students and junior staff on specific projects, collaborating with colleagues across the greater Stanford community and research field, and contributing to proposal development for future projects.

Position Summary: The Department of Communication is seeking Physicist: Research Scientist.
A physicist is sought for an interdisciplinary study of observer effects as it relates to the quantum measurement problem. The study will be a comprehensive assessment of observer effects in wave function collapse but will uniquely include psychological perspectives and methods in the development of research designs. The primary investigator will be a psychologist and the study will be conducted within the Institute for Research in Social Sciences at Stanford University.
The position will require that the researcher have a strong background in experimental methods, necessary to execute the Tonomura double slit design (using a BBO crystal) and the Mach-Zehnder interferometer design. A strong background in the quantum measurement problem would be desirable.
The project will begin with a comprehensive review of the literature-both theoretical and experimental-on variables influencing wave function collapse and developing a plan for replicating or testing a wide range of them. It will then develop and apply methods for assessing and controlling variables related to observation, drawing on ideas from psychology as well as quantum physics. Data will be analyzed, and results will be published in peer reviewed outlets.
The researcher will devote 80% of their time to the research project. The other 20% can be devoted to other research interests and taking advantage of other opportunities at Stanford University.

Ph.D. in virology, cell or molecular biology, or biochemistry plus at least 2 years of postdoctoral training that includes prior experience with molecular virology of gammaherpesviruses or retroviruses, including molecular biology and reverse genetics; replication and reactivation assays; cell line generation and optimization. The Human Motor Control and Neuromodulation Lab under Dr. Helen Bronte-Stewart is part of the Stanford Movement Disorders Center within the Department of Neurology and Neurological Sciences at Stanford University School of Medicine. We are seeking an experienced, full-time research assistant to join a dynamic and fun diverse group of post-doctoral fellows, graduate students, research scientists, and research assistants. This is a 2-year position.
The goal of the research in the laboratory is to understand the pathophysiology of movement disorders such as Parkinson's disease to create more effective therapies. At Stanford, innovations in neural interface technology have allowed us to discover how abnormal electrical brain activity contributes to disorders in movement. In the Human Motor Control and Neuromodulation Lab, the first decoding of electrical activity in deep brain structures during abnormal movement in Parkinson's disease patients was performed using novel and investigative sensing neurostimulators. Our team has deconstructed brain activity to discover the neural code responsible for the abnormality of walking in Parkinson's disease and can predict debilitating freezing events that can cause falls, significant morbidity, and even death. We are currently working to restore movement in Parkinson's disease using real-time closed-loop deep brain stimulation that responds to subcortical neural signals or kinematic signals from wearable sensors in a demand-based fashion. Additional projects include the development of a remote monitoring tool for Parkinson's disease and other disorders which recently received FDA Breakthrough Device Designation, as well as a pilot clinical trial for treating cognitive impairment in Parkinson's disease using a novel approach for deep brain stimulation of the Nucleus Basalis of Meynert. The current position offers an exceptional opportunity for a motivated and intellectually curious individual to participate in rewarding and cutting-edge research in human motor control and neurophysiology in Parkinson's disease. There are also additional exploratory projects in the areas of traumatic brain injury, concussion in athletics, Alzheimer's disease, Major Depressive Disorder, and Dementia with Lewy Bodies.
The position involves direct human subject interaction and testing, the collection, organization and analysis of electrophysiological and kinematic data, and participation in the publication of results. The candidate will participate in the submission and renewal of Institutional Review Board and grant applications in conjunction with the research team and the PI. The desired candidate is a self-motivated, independent worker who is interested in facilitating the development of new research avenues. The ideal candidate would have a bachelor's degree in neuroscience or engineering (biomedical, mechanical, electrical), or a similar field. Previous experience in motor control, gait, kinematics, neuroimaging, and/or movement disorders is a plus.

Key Responsibilities
85% Data collection, Management and Analysis
Coordinate and conduct research and scholarship related to grant. These activities may include:
* Work with project team to plan and implement data collection (e.g., focus groups, interviews, surveys), management, and analysis on designated activities.
* Support project management, including scheduling, participant recruitment, and communication with partners and stakeholders
* Lead translation of program materials and data (this requires fluency in Spanish verbal and written communication)
* Assist with data management, including data cleaning, transcription, coding, organizing of data and metadata.
* Work with team to conduct qualitative analyses and interpret findings
* Compile data analysis information and results into meaningful formats to ensure content is appropriately represented. Draw conclusions and determine key findings with faculty leads.
10% Project Coordination
* Maintain data analysis information in organized and accessible work files and folders system.
* Communicate with project partners to facilitate meeting project activity goals
5% Communications and Report
* Prepare written analytic results into format for presentation to diverse audiences including academics, policymakers, and practitioners, as requested. Listed as co-author on relevant publications.
* Generate visualizations of data and results.
What You Will Need
* Bachelor's degree in Human Development, Family Sciences, Education, Psychology, Sociology or related discipline.
* Experience engaging with families with young children and/or in child care settings.
* Bilingual: Spanish and English (fluent in verbal and written communication)
* Experience with culturally responsive data collection and analysis methods
* A commitment to collaborative and respectful learning and working environments that are safe, inclusive, and welcoming.

Working Conditions / Work Schedule
Flexible work schedule with regular check-in meetings with project partners.
The primary work location for this position is the OSU Extension Family & Community Health Program office on OSU's campus in Corvallis, Oregon. However, flexible work may be established via OSU's Flexible Work Arrangement Agreement Form, with pre-determined periodic reviews of on-going work for continuation of the agreement.
