    Under general supervision of the Sterile Processing Supervisor or Sterile Processing Educator, the Sterile Processing Technician (SPT) II serve with basic knowledge of Sterile Processing techniques/skills and is responsible for decontaminating, operationally checking, assembling, sterilizing, and distributing reusable surgical/clinical instrumentation and implants throughout the organization. Operate Steam (autoclave) and H2O2 (hydrogen peroxide) sterilizers, sonic equipment, automated washers and heat sealers. Store, date, rotate and distribute reusable surgical/clinical instrumentation. All in accordance with department and manufacturer IFU guidelines. Essential Duties: Assemble and package surgical/clinic procedure instrument sets following protocols established by electronic count sheets and manufacturer IFU. Operationally check instrumentation for functionality and cleanliness Disassemble instruments/equipment, remove gross contamination, manually wash instruments, decontaminate and load automated washers according to manufacturer's instructions for use (IFU). Operate and maintain sterilization and disinfection equipment according to established protocols and professional standards. Maintain sterilization documentation related to items processed, quality assurance, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Dispense sterile instrumentation to appropriate locations in the Sterile Storage and OR. Maintain sterile inventory through par level maintenance, stock rotation, and quality assurance. Proper distribution of sterile clinic instrumentation.. Maintain timely and efficient process flows through communication with outside departments and sterile processing technicians in other assignments. Train and assist other Sterile Processing Technicians in the duties listed above. Troubleshoot and address routine equipment, instrument, and customer issues. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: * Order supplies using various databases and track inventory levels * Receive and transport shipment; reconcile packing slips against delivered content * Provide customer service to staff who come to the issuing window for pick-up * Pick supplies and deliver content for medical cases * Conduct daily equipment rounds including clean, sterilize, and prepare equipment * Additionally, this position may be cross-trained in other areas to support departmental needs. This is a part-time per diem (as needed) position with variable working hours and schedule. May convert to Career. Salary Range: $25.06-25.06 / Hourly Job Qualifications Press space or enter keys to toggle section visibility Required: * Able to push/pull up to 100 pounds and lift up to 50 pounds. * Skilled in the English language in both written and verbal format; good comprehension of written and verbal instruction. * Ability to strictly obey healthcare regulations for infection control, as well as departmental and UCLA Policies and procedures. * Provide information regarding proper sterilization techniques, product information, equipment operation etc. to fellow staff and other healthcare team members, serving as a resource for people needing direction as required. * Consistently demonstrates a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. * Ability to attend and participate in all requested classes/drills/programs/workshops. * Ability to assist in the orientation and skill development of new staff members. * Always ensures a safe, clean working environment for self and co-workers. Monitors and reports unsafe acts or conditions and assists with resolutions. * Consistently maintains good guest relations; demonstrates good communication etiquette. * Maintains a positive attitude and behavior. Efficient with time utilization/productive, strives to be a team member, prompt attitude, adapts to change in workload, adapts to variable rotating shifts. Preferred: * Previous hospital experience. * Knowledge of Hospital Mainframe and Lawson/INFOR Systems.
