Responsibilities Under close supervision, the employee provides audiovisual (AV) and information technology (IT) support for Beall Applied Innovation (BAI) events and various technology-enabled users. Duties are primarily focused on providing AV operations support during events and providing AV and IT technical support. The employee must be comfortable with working independently and handling technical problems using well-developed guidelines (standard operating procedures - SOPs). Duties for this position include assisting users with general IT desktop support issues, routine computer troubleshooting, moving computer equipment, and installing computer software/hardware. AV duties include setup of presentations/videos, camera recording, microphone setup, and managing and switching between multiple computers. They will also be responsible for routine checkups of AV and IT equipment installations, ensuring all equipment is functional and organized. This role will also perform routine and emergency maintenance, troubleshoot and provide first-level diagnostics for BAI hardware and user systems, and provide other clerical or technical support assigned by their supervisor.The employee must function effectively as a member of the AV/IT support team as well as under the guidance of the IT Lead, following established policies and procedures. They will meet regularly with the IT Lead to discuss outstanding issues, courses of action, and the execution and delivery of services, ensuring that operating goals meet departmental standards. The employee will apply skills as a seasoned, experienced technical support professional with a complete understanding of industry practices and department policies and procedures, computing policies, and business needs to provide technical solutions to a wide range of issues.They will demonstrate practical judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. They will evaluate and test new technologies, including performing simple to moderate cost/benefit analyses. They apply professional technical support concepts to resolve hardware, software, and networking issues of moderate scope and complexity for a broad range of applications where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. Qualifications * Required: * Experience conducting escalated, broad technical audiovisual and information technology support, including hardware and software tests, analyzing test results, and producing reports of conclusions and recommendations. * Experience in use and knowledge of networking protocols such as DHCP, TCP / IP, etc. * Demonstrated skill in configuring, troubleshooting, and supporting escalated end user client systems including desktop, laptop, multifunctional, and mobile computing devices. * Broad knowledge of organizational AV and IT system functions, dependencies, and interactions, and the ability to use this information to troubleshoot. * Requires interpersonal and customer service skills in order to work with both technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization. Personnel will include event clients, staff, subtenant clients, and more. * Advanced skill at creating technical documentation for complex processes and applications. * Experience developing and administering formal technical training to users at a variety of levels. Ability to elicit and communicate technical and non-technical information in a clear and concise manner. * Demonstrates problem-solving skills to find creative solutions. * Working knowledge of unit's business processes. University Laboratory Animal Resources (ULAR) provides animal husbandry service and veterinary care to laboratory animals housed on campus for research, training or teaching.
