The Opportunity:
The University of Central Florida (UCF) department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering invites enthusiastic applications from highly motivated and talented individuals for a PostdoctoralScholar position with focus on experimental testing of high-temperature materials, solar receivers, and thermochemical reactors. The Post Doctoral Scholar will be supported by a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Solar Energy Technologies Office (SETO) funded three-year project, focusing on the design and lab-scale testing of high-temperature thermochemical reactors for solar and other renewable energy conversion and storage. The scholar will co-lead a collaborative research team with members from three universities, one clean energy start-up company, and a DOE national laboratory (Sandia) for a prototype reactor development and demonstration. The scholar will also help Dr. Li organize group meetings, co-mentor graduate and undergraduate students, and publish high-impact scientific journal articles and conference papers.
Minimum Qualifications:
PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Material Science and Engineering, or a very closely aligned field.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in studying fluid-solid interactions, reactive material reduction/oxidation kinetics, and high-temperature radiation transfer is highly desired.
Experience in studying material reactivity at high temperature using TGA/DSC or mass spectrometer is highly desired.
Experience in designing and operating thermal/fluid systems using high-temperature furnaces is desired.
Experience with material characterization such as XRD, SEM, micro-CT scan etc. is desired.
Expertise in experimental design and testing of high-temperature materials and energy systems such as solar receivers, chemical reactors, or heat exchangers.
A team player that is able to work together with external collaborators on chemical reactor design, model validation, and reactor scale-up, and possess good oral and written communication skills.

Nature of Work:
The successful applicant will be expected to isolate, grow, enumerate, and purify phage that infect the marine bacterium
Vibrio natriegens
under trace metal clean conditions. Through close collaboration with Dr. Kristen Buck's laboratory at Oregon State University, this project will test the hypothesis that marine phage incorporate iron into their structures and represent a significant form of organic dissolved iron in the oceans.
This position is available immediately but there is flexibility in start date. Applications will be reviewed until the position is filled. An annual salary of $65,000 plus benefits is budgeted. Initial appointment will be for one year, with re-appointment anticipated for a total of three years.

Department The Florida Center for Prevention Research (FCPR) Responsibilities * Support data acquisition, cleaning, and management for large-scale opioid-related datasets (e.g., state administrative data, health care utilization data, survey data, geospatial data).
* Conduct quantitative and, as applicable, geospatial analyses for technical reports, peer-reviewed manuscripts, and presentations at professional conferences.
* Prepare, submit, and amend IRB protocol and data use agreements related to opioid and substance use research.
* Contribute to the writing of technical and evaluation reports for FL state partners (e.g., agency funders).
* Serve as lead and co-author on conference proposals and manuscripts using data from Applied Opioid Research and related projects.
* Assist in conceptualizing, drafting, and revising grant proposals to internal and external funding sources that advance FCPR's mission and research.
* Participate in team meetings with university and state stakeholders and contribute to translation of research findings for policy and practice audiences.
Qualifications
* A Ph.D. in Public Health, Epidemiology, Social Work, Psychology, Education, Human Development & Family Science, or a related social or behavioral science field.

* Demonstrated proficiency in quantitative research methods, including data management and analysis using statistical software (e.g., SPSS, Stata, R, SAS, MPlus, Python).

* Highly proficient with standard computer software and collaboration platforms, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Teams, and SharePoint (or similar tools).
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience contributing to manuscripts, reports, and conference presentations.
* Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in fast-paced, team-based research environment.
* Strong organizational skills and attention to details to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
* Availability to travel and participate in occasional overnight, out-of-town meetings and conferences.
Preferred Qualifications
* Research experience focused on opioid misuse, Opioid Use Disorder (OUD), Medication for OUD, overdose prevention, or broader substance use epidemiology.
* Experience with prevention or intervention programs in family, school, or community contexts, especially those addressing substance use or associated risk/protective factors.
* Training and experience in advanced quantitative methods (e.g., longitudinal analysis, structural equation modeling, multilevel modeling, causal inference methods, geospatial modeling, or machine learning).
* Experience with data management and secondary analysis of large administrative, health services, or population-based datasets (e.g., Medicaid/claims data, EHR data, state surveillance systems, or multi-wave survey data).
* Experience preparing technical or evaluation reports for government or community partners.

The Florida Center for Prevention Research (FCPR) at Florida State University seeks a dedicated postdoctoralscholar to join our team as a mentored researcher on the Applied Opioid Research project funded by the Florida Department of Children and Families. Department Applied Superconductivity Center - National High Magnetic Field Laboratory Responsibilities The Applied Superconductivity Center at Florida State University (FSU) and the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory (NHMFL) invite applications for a post-doctoral research associate position to perform nanostructural characterization using a variety of electron microscopy techniques. The position will focus on improving our understanding of the micro-, meso-, nano- and atomic-scale structural origins of the superconducting properties of high field superconductor tapes, wires, thin film and bulks with the aid of our advanced electron microscopes. Available equipment includes an aberration-corrected atomic resolution (scanning) transmission electron microscope (S/TEM), a focused ion beam (FIB) equipped FESEM and supporting sample preparation tools. The successful candidate would be a microscopist who focuses on materials science and problem solving. This position requires expertise in a TEM/STEM operation and FIB nano-fabrication so that the applicant can quickly begin actively participating in research. The successful applicant will become a member of a highly interactive and collaborative group that has along tradition of helping post-docs build a successful career in scientific research. The post doc will also be part of the strong post doc program at the MagLab.
Qualifications
Ph.D. in materials science, physics, engineering, chemistry, or related field completed within the last three years
* Extensive prior experience in TEM/STEM operation and making TEM samples
* Extensive prior experience preparing TEM specimens using FIB
* Effective written and verbal communication skills as evinced by publications, presentations, cover letter, and references

The candidate will be working as a full member of the Applied Superconductivity Center (ASC) located in Tallahassee FL. As a part of National High Magnetic Field Laboratory (NHMFL), we are a 50-person center dedicated to understanding and advancing superconducting materials for superconducting magnet and RF applications. At present there are 13 graduate students, 3 postdocs and 23 scientific and support staff. 10-15 undergraduates also participate in research at the ASC in any given semester.
