The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP) was established in 1983 and obtained NIH/MSTP continuous funding since 1993, which was successfully renewed in 2023. The goal of this Program is to train a diverse cadre of MD/PhD dual-degree students to become outstanding physician-scientists and future leaders in biomedical research. To accomplish this goal, the MSTP Admissions Committee selects students from an ever-expanding national applicant pool, seeking out those candidates whose record of research, academic, and leadership achievements are exemplary.The annual applicant pool size for the University of Colorado MSTP has increased significantly, from 154 in 2007 to 456 in 2024. The MSTP matriculates 10-11 students annually. The current roster includes 88 students (50% female; 19% URM; 33% have come from disadvantaged background in the past five admissions cycles) that come from across the nation, from elite universities, and with ~30 months of prior research experience. Via collaboration between the MSTP and SOM, a rigorous MD/PhD training program has been developed with a curriculum that interdigitates graduate and medical school. An MSTP-specific Molecules to Medicine course, seminar series, and longitudinal clinical experience during thesis years have been developed for the MSTP trainees. The Assistant Registrar for Veteran and Military Student Services is a full-time, exempt position that reports to the Senior Associate Registrar. This position is focused on providing educational benefits and aid services for military-connected students who attend the CU Denver Campus and CU Anschutz Medical Campus.
**Assistant Registrar for Veteran and Military Student Services**
**What you will do:**
+ Collaborate with the VMSS leadership team in managing planning, policies, and procedures for the military-connected student population.
+ Serve as the lead School Certifying Official (SCO) for the University.
+ Clarify and resolve any questions concerning student eligibility for students and staff.
+ Research, review accuracy, and submit certifications through the VA Enrollment Manager system.
+ Provide reports of current and historical data concerning military-connected students to the Assistant Vice Chancellor and University Registrar.
+ Review periodic reports to verify that changes in student enrollment hours and changes in student programs are being reported appropriately.
+ Provide guidance for staff in using the degree audit system to ensure that enrolled courses are part of the student's degree program, in compliance with the US Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), the State Approving Agency (SAA) and the Department of Defense (DOD).
+ Manage the VA Annual Reporting Fees budget by ensuring that the annual funds are deposited into the correct University account, verifying that the number of veterans for whom funds are received is correct.
+ Work in cooperation with the Admissions Office at CU Denver to onboard new military-connected students through orientation.
+ Manage, coordinate, and provide documentation and support for all compliance audits requested by the SAA or VA.
+ Keep apprised of any education benefit legislation that will affect students and require changes in processes,
+ Update the departmental website with current information for military-connected students.
+ Train, supervise, and evaluate professional staff employees.
+ Hire, train, and evaluate student staff.
+ Provide managerial support for the day-to-day operation of the Veterans & Military Student Services Center, ensuring appropriate coverage for the main office at Denver and the office at the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, Colorado.
+ Other duties may be assigned by the Assistant Vice Chancellor and University Registrar as needed.
**Qualifications you already possess (Minimum Qualifications)**

+ A Bachelor's degree in a related discipline from an accredited institution
+ Four (4) years of diverse and progressively responsible professional experience serving as a Department of Veterans Affairs School Certifying Official or similar capacity at an institution of higher education

+ Master's degree from an accredited college or university in student affairs, student personnel services, higher education, public administration, business administration, or related field of study.

**Conditions of Employment**
+ Occasional work during the evening and/or weekends may be required. On two (2) Saturdays each year, all Registrar's Office employees will work to support the Commencement Ceremony - once in May and once in December.
+ This position follows a hybrid work structure where employees can work remotely or from the office, with a minimum of 3 days in-person and up to 2 days remote.
+ This position is also required to spend at least one day at the CU Anschutz campus. Working from the office is encouraged when working on tasks that require a high degree of collaboration.

The International Scholar Outreach Coordinator will be responsible for continually and intellectually engaging international scholars from the Anschutz & Denver campuses to maintain a dynamic, intellectual, and strong catalog of programs and events aimed at supporting the cultural and professional needs of scholars and their families. This position will focus on providing support to the international scholars' community on both campuses by responding to their needs from their arrival in Denver and throughout their engagement with the University. **International Scholar Outreach Coordinator** :
**What you will do:**
Transition Support (25%):
+ Provide guidance to international scholars with their transition to Colorado by acting as a point of contact and clearinghouse for information regarding housing, transportation, life in Colorado, emotional health and well-being, and institutional resources/challenges (e.g., student support services, discrimination, etc.).
+ Provide additional tailored services for special populations as needed (e.g., new arrivals, cohort programs, etc.).
+ Structure communication with newly admitted scholars to foster connection with CU Denver or CU Anschutz, e.g., provide clear pre-arrival information and answer pre-arrival questions through a variety of modalities (email, Zoom, WhatsApp groups).
+ Provide assistance and navigation support to scholars who are struggling to navigate university systems.
+ Appropriately escalate strategic concerns related to international scholars' ability to successfully transition to life in Colorado or at CU to the Director of International Operations.International Scholar Engagement, Support, and Advocacy (25%):
+ Identify, develop, and present services, resources, and activities that advocate for and support the overall development of international scholars.

+ Plan and execute cross-cultural scholar & student activities, including reserving rooms, researching costs/vendors for activities, securing the necessary supplies, advertising, managing registrations and reminders, leading events, and evaluating the success of the event. Ensure all activities are within allocated budget for each event.
+ Facilitate weekly InternationaliTEA gatherings aimed at connecting new incoming international scholars, research staff and faculty with colleagues who are already working at either CU Denver or Anschutz help support a welcoming and inclusive experience.
+ Lead the ISCORE program each semester, coordinating between campus partners to recruit students and scholars to participate in the program.
+ Providing support and encouragement to spouses, partners and dependents of International scholars who chose to leave their countries and follow them abroad. Responsible for finding engaging opportunities for their families and making sure that their needs are also met.
+ Encourage scholars to participate voluntarily in activities that are for the purpose of sharing the language, culture, or history of their home country with Americans.
+ The Coordinator will have to show cross-cultural skills, writing proficiency, social comfort, organizational skill, counseling, and other expertise to develop strong connections among constituents, and within the office (OIA) as a whole, based on trust, respect, and inclusiveness.Administrative Responsibilities (10%):
