This position is part of a university-wide cluster hire in the area of Disasters, Risk, and Communication, supported through the Presidential Strategic Hiring Initiative (PHI). The successful candidate will join a vibrant and interdisciplinary research and instructional community addressing pressing challenges associated with climate extremes, compound disasters, risk communication, and resilience.
We seek a specialist in tropical meteorology, with interest in hazard and risk communication. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and maintain an active, externally funded research program and will have opportunities to collaborate with faculty across campus, including those affiliated with the NSF-funded Center for Innovation in Risk, Catastrophes, and Decisions (CIRCAD), the UGA Research Institute (UGARI), and the Institute for Resilient Infrastructure Systems (IRIS), among others. Position Summary
The Department of Food Science and Technology at UGA is seeking a highly motivated and creative individual to develop an Extension and research program in the area of food safety with a focus on process engineering and the influence of product formulation.
The successful candidate will support and advance Georgia's food and beverage industries through expertise in processing and preservation technologies and extension of science-based information to relevant stakeholders, and develop a complementary research program with the capacity to sustain itself through extramural funding. This position will involve developing a nationally recognized Extension program that addresses the needs of Georgia's established food industries and supports emerging food businesses. The program will include in-person and/or online workshops, applied and collaborative research addressing industry challenges, and partnerships with faculty in business and marketing to assist food entrepreneurs, including process approvals for manufactured foods. We seek individuals who can train graduate students in biobehavioral and computational science, with a strong focus on stress biology methodologies. This position will support the biobehavioral training tracks in the college. The new hire will join a dynamic program with a strong history of collaborative basic and applied research that crosses methodological and disciplinary boundaries. The ideal candidate's research should focus broadly on understanding how biopsychosocial processes, across various stages of life and over multiple time scales, influence behavioral risk, aging, and disease decades later through changes in biological aging. We are particularly interested in candidates who examine multiple levels of human development, including genomics, biomarkers, and phenotypic data. This position is being funded by a Presidential Interdisciplinary Faculty Hiring Initiative in which we seek a colleague with expertise in medical family therapy as well as traumatic stress who will engage in and disseminate cutting-edge family and community-based inter-professional scholarship, translational science, prevention and clinical intervention to train the next generations of scientist-practitioners and health practitioners. This position will support a specialized track and certificate in Traumatic Stress, Grief and Resilience Studies and an undergraduate Honors course for students preparing for careers in health professionals. This position will introduce undergraduate and graduate students to inter-professional education and to understanding the partners in allied professions. This work will be disseminated in collaboration individuals, families and communities struggling with mental and behavioral health issues that often co-occur with medical conditions. In collaboration with the Ralston Institute for Behavioral Health and Developmental Disability, this position will support the professional education and training of practitioners throughout the state of Georgia on behavioral health topics.
The successful candidate will be expected to establish and maintain an active independent program of research as well as demonstrate a continuous record of scholarly productivity in peer-reviewed journals; take significant responsibility on externally funded, peer-reviewed projects; present their research at a minimum of one national or international conference per year; and collaborate with graduate students, and/or post-docs on research publications, grants, and awards. Upon hire, the faculty member is expected to play an important role in teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in their areas of expertise by contributing to teaching existing Couple and Family Therapy doctoral level courses and teaching undergraduate courses when needed.
It is expected that CFT content must be responsive to standards outlined by the Commission on Accreditation of Marital and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE). As a CFT core faculty member in HDFS, this hire will provide clinical supervision for doctoral student therapists enrolled in practicum courses; mentor graduate students; contribute as a committee member in a way that increases critical thinking about traumatic stress, grief, resilience, hospital settings and other allied health and behavioral health communities; and participate in service on departmental, college, and/or university committees to support education and engagement missions.

Within this setting, the new faculty hire will play a vital role in teaching introductory-level mathematics. This hire should also be able to teach mathematics content courses for prospective (K-12) teachers.
The Department supports applied and pure mathematics, statistics, and mathematics education, as well as introductory courses for all students, regardless of their major. The mathematics education group works closely with the College of Education to develop and revise curriculum for courses for elementary and middle grade majors.
Job Summary
Reporting to the department chair, the Lecturer position requires excellence in teaching with a classroom instructional load as assigned by the Department Chair and service to the department, college, and university at a level consistent with workload. Duties/Responsibilities
* Teach undergraduate and graduate HPE and sport pedagogy classes (face-to-face) within the current program curriculum. The teaching load consists of seven three-credit sections (21 credit hours) across the academic year.
* Supervise physical education teacher candidates in student teaching placements.
* Provide high-quality educational assistance to individual students.
* Contribute to service activities at the program, department, college, and university levels, when requested.
* Provide programmatic, technological, and pedagogical support to the PEDB Program.
