Position Summary
Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), the NursingTechnician delivers patient care utilizing the Relationship-Based Care model as a framework. The NurseTechnician provides care and takes initiative to improve patient outcomes by supporting Shared Leadership, Evidence Based Practice, Relationship Based Care and standards of nursing excellence in clinical practice. Through therapeutic relationships with patients, families, self and colleagues, the NurseTechnician functions as an interdisciplinary team member who provides patient care and fulfills unit and organizational goals.
Duties & Responsibilities
* Assists with patient admission, transfer or discharge as assigned and supports the patient by performing activities of daily living, safely operating patient care equipment, promoting skin integrity and safety measures. • Documents patient information in EHR (such as vital signs, nursing care provided, intake and output). • Acts as a patient / family advocate by providing comfort, assistance and information and provides feedback to RN or LPN on patient care and condition as directed. • Demonstrates a commitment to UI Health values through teamwork and effective communication in an effort to achieve quality outcomes, patient safety, customer satisfaction and a clean, safe and therapeutic environment. • Participates in organizational, departmental and shared leadership activities; supports department and unit goals in daily behavior. • Identifies recurring clinical practice and/or related unit problems and participates in problem solving and resolution. • Collaborates with other staff to identify, promote and provide positive learning experiences for staff and students. • Takes responsibility for continued professional growth/development by identification of learning needs and initiates strategies to meet such needs. • Other duties as assigned.Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
* High school graduation or equivalent
* Possession of a CNA license from an accredited institution/school/program. Illinois Department of Public Health - Health Care Work Registry ********************************************
* Current BLS/CPR and other required unit-specific certifications.
* 1 year experience as NursingTechnician.

Under the direction of the Physician, performs a variety of clinical and clerical services to support physician practice in an outpatient setting.
Duties & Responsibilities:
* A Certified Medical Assistant typically performs the following duties per healthcare facility protocols (federal, state and
university) and specific duties assigned.
* Maintains medical records in Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems, reviews and prepares EHR to ensure completeness prior to patient exam, obtains missing documentation; documents medical visits, observations, and related activities.
Direct Patient Care Tasks
* Assists nursing/medical staff with tasks related to preliminary assessment, education, and documentation of patient condition and the presenting health complaint including:
a. Obtaining vital signs and other pertinent health information, i.e. conducts patient screenings during intake process.
b. Administration of basic tests as by healthcare provider such as EKG, spirometry, pulse oximetry, Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments {CLIA), etc.
c. Informing the patient of test preparations and directions to diagnostic/treatment areas.
d. Obtain specimens by noninvasive techniques, and collect blood specimens via capillary and venipuncture technique.
* Assists medical/nursing staff with tasks or diagnostic/therapeutic procedures appropriate to experience, training and skill level.
* Responds to patient inquires and relays information to the appropriate clinical staff based on the nature of the inquiry.
* Transports or accompanies patients as directed.
* Documents patient medications for medication reconciliation by history.

Indirect Patient Care Tasks
* Under direct supervision of clinical staff and following MD orders, completes requisitions for diagnostic tests/procedures.
* Assists in collection and processing of patient specimens. Performs and documents point of care specimen testing.
* Performs necessary follow-up to obtain laboratory/test results and other pertinent medical record information; records lab data.
* Maintains patient care environment in compliance with safety and infection control requirements including but not limited to ordering, stocking, and monitoring usage of linen, forms and supplies; disposal of soiled and used patient care supplies; sterilization of equipment.
* Performs and documents quality control tests on equipment as appropriate.
* Cleans and sterilizes equipment and maintains appropriate cleaning logs per policy.
* Obtains pre-authorizations and referrals.
Clerical Tasks
* Maintains patient files and medical records; extracts clinical/demographic information as required.
* Schedules patient appointments in English and Spanish.
* Checks patients in and out, requisitions charts/studies, registers patients and activates accounts according to hospital procedures in English and Spanish.
* Records lab data.
* Assists other staff with office reception and business support functions.
* Collects payments in English and Spanish from patients and keeps accurate record of collections.
* Performs related duties as assigned.
* Participates or assists with initiatives to promote effective process design, development and implementation of EHR and other technologies; participates in improvement projects and on assigned committees.

Minimum Qualifications Required:
* High school graduation or equivalent.
* Possession of a current/valid certification as a Certified Medical Assistant by an approved certifying board as defined by the employing institution. The approved certifying boards include; American Association of Medical Assistant (AAMA), American Medical Technologists (AMT), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCTI) and/or National Health career Association (NHA).

You will need to be based in the greater Chicagoland area.
The Cardiac Telemetry Technician (CTT) works under the supervision and direction of a registered nurse. The CTT observes electrocardiogram (ECG) tracings on monitored patients, reports rhythm changes and arrhythmias to the registered nurse caring for the patient, activates Rapid Response Team (RRT) and/or the physician if needed, documents rhythms and arrhythmias, and records rhythm strips and other data per policy.
Essential Job Functions
Continuous monitoring, documentation, and communication of electrocardiogram tracings on monitored patients.
Recognizes, identifies, analyzes, and documents arrhythmias, abnormal cardiac rhythms, rhythm changes, and promptly reports changes to the registered nurse.
Enters patient data into the arrhythmia computer system.
Sets alarm limits according to alarm parameter guidelines.
Admits, uses stand-by mode, and discharges patient to the monitoring system according to policy.
Configures individualization of the arrhythmia alarm as directed. Initiates the telemetry documentation system.
Observes placement of monitoring leads for optimal signal.
Documents rhythm, heart rate, and intervals per policy.
Validates yellow and red level alarms and takes appropriate steps.
Notifies the nurse if this is a new alarm or a change for the patient.
Reviews trends and alarm history every two (2) hours and documents per policy.
Trouble shoots central station, monitors, transmitters, and patient cables.
Performs shift checks of the printer, strip recorder, and other associated equipment.
Ensures that all equipment is adequately maintained. Arranges repairs as necessary. Maintains equipment logs.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED.
Current basic life support (BLS) healthcare provider certification (American Heart Association)
Basic familiarity with computers. Ability to navigate at a basic level within web-based applications and Microsoft Office
Upon hire, successful completion of the University of Chicago electrocardiogram (ECG) course and validation test
Preferred Qualifications
Certified Cardiographic Technician
At least one year of prior work experience
Knowledge of medical terminology

Position Summary

Complete the "Core Skills Assessment" upon hire. Flexibility in supporting both pre- and post-operative care needs. Set up patients' rooms for transfers or admissions and remove equipment/supplies upon discharge. Assist with patient transport and discharge as assigned, ensuring that all patient belongings go with the patient Set up and ensure compliance with isolation precautions. Ensure compliance of UI Health infection control guidelines. Orient patient and family to room including but not limited to explaining visiting hours, bed functions, use of television, telephone, and call light. Assist patient and family members with information and/or concerns of admission/stay. Inspect patients for any abnormalities or changes on skin and notify RN. Provide care for incontinent patients, promoting skin integrity and utilizing appropriate products. Monitor and reinforce use of incentive spirometer, deep breathing and coughing. Position Summary
Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), the NursingTechnician delivers patient care utilizing the Relationship-Based Care model as a framework. The NurseTechnician provides care and takes initiative to improve patient outcomes by supporting Shared Leadership, Evidence Based Practice, Relationship Based Care and standards of nursing excellence in clinical practice. Through therapeutic relationships with patients, families, self and colleagues, the NurseTechnician functions as an interdisciplinary team member who provides patient care and fulfills unit and organizational goals.
Duties & Responsibilities
Complete the "Core Skills Assessment" upon hire. Flexibility in supporting both pre- and post-operative care needs. Set up patients' rooms for transfers or admissions and remove equipment/supplies upon discharge. Assist with patient transport and discharge as assigned, ensuring that all patient belongings go with the patient Set up and ensure compliance with isolation precautions. Ensure compliance of UI Health infection control guidelines. Orient patient and family to room including but not limited to explaining visiting hours, bed functions, use of television, telephone, and call light. Assist patient and family members with information and/or concerns of admission/stay. Inspect patients for any abnormalities or changes on skin and notify RN. Provide care for incontinent patients, promoting skin integrity and utilizing appropriate products. Monitor and reinforce use of incentive spirometer, deep breathing and coughing. Measure and document all vital signs, including weight and height, in EHR and alert RN of any abnormalities. Respond to patient call lights in a timely manner. Apply simple dressings as directed by the RN. Maintain oxygen therapy as directed. Prepare patients for diagnostic and therapeutic tests as directed by the RN. Maintain fall precautions, including bed alarms. Operate patient care equipment such as SCDs, pulse oximeters, specialty beds, weighing devices, and cardiac chairs following safety precautions. Empty drains and documents amount and color of drainage in the Electronic Health Record (EHR). Perform range of motion, assist with patient mobilization (chair, transfers, turning and ROM). Safely collect and label all patient's specimens, including sputum, urine, and stool. Perform Point of Care testing as assigned. Assist patients with meeting hydration and nutritional needs. Record intake and output amounts, perform calorie counts, and provide meal supplements. Position patient for oral intake to prevent aspiration as directed by the RN. Consult with RN on assignments given and contributes to the patient's plan of care. Perform a.m. or p.m. care, including back rubs, oral hygiene, making occupied and unoccupied beds. Prepare patient for operating room, assists with bed baths, and assists patient with other activities of daily living. Monitor and reinforces fluid restrictions as directed by the RN. Reinforce patient teaching provided by a nurse. Act as a patient/family advocate by providing comfort, assistance and information. Provide feedback to RN on patient care and condition as directed. Other duties as assigned.Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
