Verifies and implements orders from physician, physician assistant and/or advance practice nurse by performing interventions as prescribed by the provider and documenting accurately in the electronic medical record. Engages and obtains information from patient and/or family to develop an appropriate patient educational plan. Recognizes symptoms, establishes priorities, and responds to patient's changing needs. Engages support personnel by delegating appropriate tasks per the Illinois State Nurse Practice Act and provides support and feedback. Advocates for patients, families, and their significant others, the community, and the nursing profession. Integrates theoretical knowledge, evidence-based research, current standards of practice and clinical experience to provide "quality" patient care as measured by established nursing quality standards and other governing/accrediting health care bodies. Assumes role of Charge Nurse when assigned, utilizing appropriate resources and tools. Minimum Qualifications
* Eligibility for licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Division of Professional Regulation.
* Current BLS/CPR and/or other required unit specific certifications.
* Current advanced cardiac life support, or within 6 months of hire for main hospital.
* Effective communication skills (oral and written) that facilitate therapeutic relationships between patients, family, and health care providers
* Intermediate computer skills with the ability to become proficient in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) with on-the-job training
* Excellent attendance, interpersonal skills and work history required.
Preferred Qualifications
* Minimum of 1 year of ICU experience

Job Summary
For the McKinley Health Center, utilizes the nursing process to provide direct care and health education for patients, including but not limited to, those with acute and chronic illnesses and injuries: assessment of the patient's problem, development and implementation of a nursing care plan, evaluation of the effectiveness of the plan, and revision of the plan of care as needed.
Duties & Responsibilities
* Provides direct patient care and health education activities by utilizing the nursing process. Performs nursing procedures according to established policies and procedures and standing orders.
* Works/trains in a variety of settings: Immunization Clinic, Women's Health Clinic, Mental Health Clinic, and Medical Clinics, including rotating to Acute Care Clinic on Saturdays and/or occasional holidays.
* Administers medications and treatments as ordered by the physician.
* Assists Physician and Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant as needed.
* Maintains unit flow by assisting fellow staff members, as needed, including but not limited to: check in and prepares patients for appointments; answers phones from other departments, assumes duties of Medical Assistant and Office Support Associates as needed.
* Functions as an Office Nurse when designated.
* Functions as unit Charge Nurse on weekends or holidays when designated. The Charge Nurse works directly under the supervision of the Administrative Nurse III and reports daily to the Administrative Nurse. Specific duties and responsibilities will vary depending on the clinical area to which assigned.
* Collaborates in the development and implementation of unit goals, policies and procedures.
* Assists in the orientation of new unit personnel.
* Maintains professional skills and knowledge.
* Participates in unit Quality Assessment Programs.
* Accepts committee appointments.

Appointment Information

Minimum Qualifications
* Eligibility for licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Division of Professional Regulation.
* Current BLS/CPR and/or other required unit specific certifications.
* Current ACLS
* Minimum of 2 years experience working in a Float Team in the Mother Baby, Labor and Delivery, Obstetrics Emergency Room, and Antepartum Stepdown track.
* Effective communication skills (oral and written) that facilitate therapeutic relationships between patients, family, and health care providers.
* Intermediate computer skills with the ability to become proficient in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) with on-the-job training.
* Excellent attendance, interpersonal skills and work history required.\
* ACLS within 6 months of hire for main hospital.
Preferred Qualifications
* Minimum BSN preferred of an accredited nursing program.
* Nationally certified through ANCC approved certifier.

* Establishes an in-depth database by assessing the behavioral and physical status of a variety of pre-surgical patient populations, utilizing interview, observation, and physical examination. Interprets overt and subtle data to determine physiologic or psychosocial risk.
* Ensures the delivery of quality nursing care for patients undergoing surgical and non-invasive procedures in accordance with age-related and individual needs, physician's orders, hospital policy, standards of care and nursing practice.
* Responsible for assessing the needs of patients, planning nursing care to meet those needs, and ensuring that the plan of care is carried out and documented according to the principles defined in the nursing process.

Position Summary
The StaffNurse I provides direct patient care and takes the initiative to improve patient outcomes by integrating Shared Leadership, Evidence Based Practice, Relationship Based Care, and standards of nursing excellence into clinical practice. This position integrates professional practice model, current standards of practice and clinical experience to provide "quality" patient care as measured by established nursing quality standards and other governing/accrediting health care bodies. The StaffNurse I engages and obtains information from patient and/or family to advocate for the patient, develops an appropriate patient educational plan, and responds to patient's changing needs while sharing information and collaborating with other members of the health care team to promote effective patient care. The StaffNurse I participates in organizational, departmental, and shared leadership activities; supports department and unit goals in daily behavior.
Duties & Responsibilities
Develops, implements, and updates the patient's plan of care based on on-going assessment of the patient and input from the patient's family. Shares information and collaborates with other members of the health care team to promote effective patient care. Verifies and implements orders from physician, physician assistant and/or advance practice nurse by performing interventions as prescribed by the provider and documenting accurately in the electronic medical record. Engages and obtains information from patient and/or family to develop an appropriate patient educational plan. Recognizes symptoms, establishes priorities, and responds to patient's changing needs. Engages support personnel by delegating appropriate tasks per the Illinois State Nurse Practice Act and provides support and feedback. Advocates for patients, families, and their significant others, the community, and the nursing profession. Integrates theoretical knowledge, evidence-based research, current standards of practice and clinical experience to provide "quality" patient care as measured by established nursing quality standards and other governing/accrediting health care bodies. Assumes role of Charge Nurse when assigned, utilizing appropriate resources and tools. Collaborates with other nurses to identify, promote, and provide positive learning experiences for staff and students. Serves as preceptor and/or resource to other nursing, support staff and students. Takes responsibility for continued professional growth/development by identification of learning needs and initiates strategies to meet such needs. Other duties as assigned.Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
* Eligibility for licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Division of Professional Regulation.
* Current BLS/CPR and/or other required unit specific certifications.
* Current advanced cardiac life support, or within 6 months of hire for main hospital.
Preferred Qualifications
* Prior Operating Room experience
