    The University of Iowa Health Care is seeking a 50-100% Paramedic (20 - 40 hours per week) to work in our Sioux City Family Medicine Clinic. This position supports our Family Medicine Clinic where you'll spend more time with patients and expand your physician-support and administrative duties, increasing the efficiency and productivity of the physician and anticipating future needs to facilitate the flow of the clinic. We provide care for pregnancy, baby wellness, vaccinations, school and athletic physicals, acute visits, annual check-ups, mental health, on-site laboratory services, and more. Our team builds relationships with patients, monitors their care history, and delivers personalized, compassionate care to every patient. When a patient needs specialty care, our family medicine provider connects them with the appropriate UI Health Care specialist, ensuring a seamless experience by sharing your medical records. Department Summary: Under supervision of NM/ANM (Nurse Manager/Assistant Nurse Manager) and Medical Director of Urgent Care and also receives functional supervision from APP's (Advanced Practice Provider) and functions as a member of the urgent care team. Performs technical, patient care and related clerical functions in the Urgent Care setting by coordinating all elements of the patient visit. Position Responsibilities: * Assists registered nurses, medical assistants, and LIPs in the delivery of patient care, with regard to patient condition and age. * Performs patient care related to oxygen therapy and monitoring, cardiac monitoring (acquiring and interpreting 12-lead EKGs, cardioversion and defibrillation), vital signs, specimens (i.e. blood, urine or sputum) and properly packaging and sending to specimen control. * Initiates IVs and venipuncture samples as well as bedside glucose monitoring. * Assists with hemorrhage control, spinal immobilization and splinting. * Under the functional supervision of the APP administers routine oral, rectal, sublingual, nasal, topical, otic, Ophthalmic, inhalation, intraosseous and injectable medications, not including "high alert" medications as designated by UI Health Care policy. Also, not requiring a high level of skill or nursing judgment.
