Job Description
The University of Maryland St. Joseph Medical Center (UM SJMC), a member of the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS), is seeking a full-time Cardiac Anesthesiologist to join its team in Towson, Maryland.
Position details:
University of Maryland St. Joseph Medical Center is a CMS 5-Star, Leapfrog Grade ‘A' hospital and ranked the #1 community hospital in Maryland by U.S. News and World Report. The cardiac surgical program holds an STS 3-star rating for CABG.
UM SJMC's cardiac surgical case mix includes coronary bypass, valvular replacement and repair, surgical minimally invasive aortic and mitral valve replacement/repair, and complex combined procedures. There is a busy structural heart program performing TAVR, MitraClip, Watchman, and PFO/ASD closure. The team also covers a robust EP program for ablations and devices. ECMO/Impella are utilized. No VADs/Transplants.
Physician only group. No supervision.
Proficiency in ultra-sound guided blocks and basic regional techniques is preferred.
Work/life balance supported by an equitable schedule which includes 1 in 5 weeknights and 1 in 5 weekends (call is from home).
Candidate must be ABA certified and BE/BC in Adult Cardiac Anesthesiology.
Certification in Advanced Perioperative Transesophageal Echocardiology required.

Education and Experience

Minimum of 1 year of experience working as a Nurse Practitioner in Gastroenterology or a related field.
DEA and CDS eligible.

Principal Responsibilities and Tasks
Performs preventive maintenance, repair and calibration services on complex electronic patient care, clinical laboratory, computerized pneumatic conveying equipment and basic radiographic equipment in accordance with departmental standards and manufacturers operating and repair manuals.
Interprets and performs inspection procedures appropriately and documents procedures in accordance with Joint Commission regulations and departmental policy and procedure. Identifies potential safety hazards of equipment and documents actions taken to eliminate them.
Responds to work requests, troubleshoots malfunctions and makes the necessary repairs in a safe, timely and efficient manner. Installs, repairs and maintains complex diagnostic and therapeutic equipment including their electronic and mechanic components.
Schedules third party repair of equipment when needs are beyond the scope of the department's expertise.
Maintains test equipment and tools in good working order. Communicates with nursing, allied health and medical staff, regularly, regarding equipment operation to prevent/minimize equipment failure.
Participates in the evaluation of new, rental or demonstration biomedical equipment and make recommendation regarding acquisition.
Observes general clinical engineering practices and respective departmental policies and procedure to promote the overall efficiency of repair service and operations for the Biomedical Engineering Department.
Assists management with oversight on maintenance of departmental records, such as maintenance requests, electrical safety forms, files, relevant statistics and technical manuals on biomedical equipment in accordance with Joint Commission, federal, state and local regulations.

Job Description
The Clinical Coordinator has a dual role. This dual role includes time at the bedside either as a charge nurse or primary nurse in addition to administrative responsibilities. In collaboration with the Assistant Vice President of Nursing and Clinical Nurse Manager, assists him/her in the daily management of the unit, in the coordination of patient flow, in assuring appropriate staffing, budget compliance, and in the preparation of performance evaluations. The Clinical Coordinator functions as a clinical expert for the unit, participating in the ongoing professional development of the team members and in the orientation of new team members. The Clinical Coordinator is expected to participate in unit-based and organization-wide committees and task forces, and to make a significant contribution to the unit's performance improvement and patient safety initiatives
Qualifications
Education & Training:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Bachelors' degree in Nursing is strongly preferred.
Currently licensed as an RN in the state of Maryland.
Certification in BCLS is required; ACLS certification is preferred.
Work Orientation & Experience:
The Clinical Coordinator has a minimum of three years of recent nursing experience in appropriate specialty setting; including one (1) year Charge Nurse experience. Proven clinical competence and proficiency in the area of specialty is required.

Job Description
The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification. All medical assistants are expected to participate in both clinical and administrative tasks and display core values of the organization. The below items are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all job duties performed by personnel so classified.
Clinical Duties:
Gathers and documents brief history and chief complaint in the medical record/EMR.
Follows established clinic workflows to facilitate efficiency and timely service to patients.
Prepares patient for examination by the health care provider. Performs and documents vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature) and risk screening on all patients per hospital policy. Reports out of range values in vital signs and risk screening to the provider.
Performs routine clinic testing, including but not limited to: Urinalysis, vision testing, hearing screening, pulmonary function testing, pulse oximetry, etc. Follows established guidelines or protocols where applicable to obtain necessary testing based on the chief complaint prior to the exam.
Assists provider with procedures and minor surgical procedures.
Obtains necessary blood and urine specimens per provider orders.
Provides pre-printed patient education /material as directed by physician.
Exhibits compassion and empathy for all patients and families at all times.
Performs cleaning and disinfection of environment of care according to hospital policy.
Performs high level disinfection of equipment/instruments per unit/hospital procedure.
Stocks/restocks supply and exam rooms maintaining necessary supplies in clinical area.
Ensures equipment used in clinical area has a current Biomed sticker and is ready for use.
Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patient populations(s) served. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's requirements relative to his or her population-specific and age specific needs. Provides the care needed as described in the unit/area/department policies and procedures.
Administers select medications and injections under direct supervision of physician as per clinic and hospital policy. Assists in the UMMS immunization program, including giving injections and tracking data in a computer program.
Manages voicemail and in-basket messaging systems. Retrieves and routes or addresses messages directly per established clinic specific workflows and hospital policy.
B. Administrative Duties
Assists with front desk operations to include but not limited to: patient check in and check out, scheduling, filing, patient phone calls, facility fee quotes, co-pay collections where applicable and informing patients of possible delays.
Responsible for reading email and other hospital communications timely and applying new information in daily practice.
Plays active role in compliance with regulatory requirements. Maintains a safe environment of care and reports safety concerns.
Additional Duties:
Participates in medical assistant skill development and competency evaluation as requested by clinic manager.
Responsible for self-learning; attends educational offerings and in-services independently.
Participates in clinic-based process improvement efforts.
Actively participates in clinic huddles/staff meetings.
Performs other duties as assigned.

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program required.
CPR certification required.

The Emergency Department Care Coordinator, in collaboration with the clinical team to include the medical provider, delivers navigation and coordination of services and interventions for identified patient's presenting to the Emergency Department. The Care Coordinator provides status recommendations, strives to promote patient wellness, improved care outcomes, and efficient utilization of health services. Ideally the functions of the Care Coordinator will impact metrics to include throughput, length of stay, readmissions, potentially avoidable utilization (PAUs) and denials.
