Job Description Overview Under general supervision, performs routine and specialized CT imaging procedures. Key Responsibilities Key Responsibility 1: Executes basic clinical competence in CT, in all locations, across all patient types. Selects accurate technical factors on an individual patient basis and demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to age of the patient. Observes concepts of Image Wisely/Image Gently for dose reduction. Administers contrast according to facility policy. Actively participates in the Clinical Ladder Program, if implemented, at the individual System hospital/location, meeting and maintaining all Program standards and requirements. Key Responsibility 2: Applies knowledge of CT principles and practices, including anatomy and physiology, radiation safety and physics, patient positioning and patient care skills. Adheres to Joint Commission, State, Federal, organizational and departmental regulatory compliance standards. Key Responsibility 3: Documents accurate patient care activity in various electronic health records systems. Key Responsibility 4: Ensures a safe and appropriate work environment. Maintains supplies and inventory in area. Informs appropriate colleague when supplies need to be ordered from outside vendors.     Job Description General Summary Under general supervision, perform routine and specialized diagnostic and therapeutic angiography procedures on patients following established parameters/protocols for use by physicians in diagnosis and treatment of pathologies. Assist in maintaining a smooth operational flow and maximum patient volume. * Principal Responsibilities and Tasks The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification. They are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all job duties performed by personnel so classified. * Operates technical angiography equipment and applies ionizing radiation to the patient in accordance with standard operating procedures, according to departmental policies, procedures/protocols and as appropriate for the particular patient. * Greets and receives patients. Explains procedure to patient. * Positions patients according to department's procedure manual. Moves and/or assists patients onto the table in accordance with departmental procedures. * Provides radiation protection in accordance with regulations. Selects accurate technical factors on an individual patient basis. * Performs angiography and digital subtraction angiography procedures, utilizing nursing procedures, sterile technique and radiographic technique. * Operates laser imagers, pressure injectors, pressure monitors and processor equipment to obtain radiographic images on patients. Critiques radiographs for quality and accuracy, and forwards film to Film Library for reading preparation, or retakes film, as appropriate. * Reports all potential or actual patient/equipment problems to the Manager, Radiology Nursing and/or Chief Angio Technologist and/or Radiologist. * Reviews history and pertinent films with designated Radiologist to assure appropriate application of procedure. * Recognizes and responds to emergency situations by utilizing CPR or contacting radiology nursing or medical personnel. Utilizes routine nursing interventional procedures under the direction of a physician or nursing personnel, as needed. * Sets up and maintains a sterile field by utilizing sterile technique; opens sterile procedures trays where applicable. * * Monitors patient condition throughout the procedure and maintains maximum patient comfort. Uses EKG equipment, Intravenous pumps, Blood Pressure equipment, pulse oximeter and related routine equipment to maintain continuous patient care while patient is undergoing Radiologic procedures. * Records and accumulates patient statistics on daily summary sheets; enters data into the radiology computer system. Schedules and tracks patient information via computer systems. * Identifies all radiographs by recording patient name, date, and time. * Completes records accurately, including number of films, exposure, Radiographer ID number, date, time, various important patient information. Schedules patients for procedures, as needed. * Maintains and tracks the patient's medical records through the Radiology Information System while in Radiology, assuring that it is updated, as appropriate, and available when needed. * Prepares medications for administration by Radiologist. Opens medication, maintaining integrity of the sterile syringes, needles, and draws-up medication for injection in accordance with departmental procedures. * Assists Radiologist with administration of radiopaque materials by setting volume and flow rates on the MedRad power injector. * Cleans and disinfects angiography equipment and scanner room. Troubleshoots technical and mechanical problems, and performs minor maintenance on equipment, i.e. laser imagers and film processors, in accordance with departmental procedures. * Maintains supplies needed on a daily basis by restocking according to inventory list in each radiology procedure room. * Documents all equipment problems on maintenance request forms. * Monitors functioning of film processor; replenishes developer and fixer chemicals, and performs start-up and shut-down procedures. * Assists physicians with specialized diagnostic and interventional procedures by handling equipment, preparing instrument trays, prepping and explaining procedures to patients and other related tasks under the supervision of a Radiologist. * Communicates effectively with patients, nurses, and physicians, particularly regarding information on angiography procedures requiring specialized patient preparation. * Advises physicians on appropriate angio/radiographic procedures for visualization of the particular body part or vascular area. * Handles telephone inquiries regarding physician and/or patient information relative to angiography procedures in an effective and appropriate manner. Performs miscellaneous clerical functions, as needed. * Responds to "Stat" calls for angiography procedures by being available to the Radiology resident on call on a rotating basis. Registers arriving patients in the EMR following existing protocols. * Rooms patients and provides triage services, including vital signs, review of symptoms and chief complaint in an electronic medical record (EMR). * Accurately record patient information such as vital signs, review of systems and chief complaint in an electronic medical record (EMR); * Proficient in full range of medical assisting skills, collect urine samples, reconstitute medications, administer oral medications, provide oxygen and nebulizer treatments, assist providers with medical procedures, perform minor procedures, collect specimens, perform rapid laboratory tests, perform EKGs, process and prepare blood samples for outside lab processing, and splinting and fitting patients for durable medical equipment. * Perform routine lab maintenance and logs; perform routine maintenance on the autoclave, sterilization and packaging of surgical instrument kits. * Cleaning and staging of exam and procedure suites in between patient occupancy. * Processes cash and credit payments for services. * Prepares the radiology suite, equipment, and materials as necessary. Prepares pediatric and adult patients for x-ray studies and effortlessly explains and completes the capturing of images. * Performs regular and accurate inventory of medical supplies and processes orders. Re-stocks shelves and suites when supply orders are received. * Performs administrative tasks such as composing of and responding to emails, answering and making phone calls, etc. * Assist new associates in training as requested. * Perform other duties as assigned. * Assist new team members in training as requested. * Roving to all centers in your market required.
