One of Tennessee's premier research institutions, the University of Memphis celebrated its centennial in 2012. With an enrollment that averages over 20,000 and nearly 1,000 full-time faculty members, University of Memphis offers all of the academic resources you'd expect from a leading public research university. The university sponsors several long-standing athletic programs, as well. The Tigers' men's basketball team is a perennial NCAA Tournament contender, having earned a berth nearly every year since 2003. The university provides several scholarships, all of which are based on ACT/SAT scores and high school GPA. Other financial aid opportunities are open to students who don't qualify for scholarships, such as student employment and government aid programs.
