* First point of contact for patients, families, and visitors to the ED, setting the tone of quality customer service for the duration of the guests' experience.

Basic Function and Responsibilities
Fully functioning staff member. Could be promoted to this level after proven ability to fully function as a PatientServices Assistant. May also perform some telephone triage and administrative support.
* Accurately and efficiently schedule patient appointments utilizing Cadence. Management of pre-arrival functions to assure all necessary information has been obtained for clinic visits.
* Serve as a resource for physicians and other staff, patients, and outside third parties for insurance authorizations and other managed care related issues.
* Respond to patient inquiries related to special requirements of insurance plans, directing patient to insurance carrier as needed to address coverage and benefit questions.
* Assist patients with payment questions on the phone or in person. Collect payments, copays and past due balances at patient check out using established department guidelines.
* Reconcile clinic cash collections and credit card transactions daily according to specified clinic standards.
* Ensure completeness of visit information including type of visit, reason for service, charge for service and diagnostic codes for processing professional and facility charges. Participate in creating efficient patient flow coordinating with nursing/medical assistant staff and faculty.

Job Summary
The overarching role of our team is to support patients and families through the surgical day and to execute clerical tasks enabling medical providers to focus on patient care. Staff on our team cover each of the clerical desks in the Pavilion, UH and CVC Operating Rooms and Post Anesthesia Care Units (PACUs). The Operating Room and Anesthesia Front Desks, Pre-Op, and PACU clerical roles are largely `behind the scenes positions, assisting and coordinating the people, equipment, schedules, etc. that enable smooth operations in and around the operating rooms. Surgery Reception staff check patients in for their procedures and act as communication liaisons between clinicians and family members, relaying important information throughout the stressful surgical day.

* Maintain responsibility for MiChart grids as directed
* Manage complex billing and referral work queues

Job Purpose:
The Patient Advocate serves as a member of a multi-disciplinary clinical care team and responsible for providing supportive services to persons living with HIV or those affected by HIV. The Patient Advocate will assist primarily the families of adult and perinatal patients with navigating the health care system to ensure those living with HIV remain in care and works to reduce barriers that may complicate their health and well-being. This position primarily helps patients with Early Intervention Services, Ryan White Client Eligibility Enrollment, Health Insurance Coverage, Counseling & Testing Services, Referrals, Advocacy, Problem-Solving and other related services.
Essential Functions:
Provide patient with orientation to clinical and supportive services and assist them in assessing needed services by conducting an intake and bio-psychosocial assessments. Conduct Ryan White Client Eligibility verification as required.
Coordinates HIV case management or non-medical case management services to ensure patient has access to full range of needed community services.
Conduct routine monitoring and follow-up with patients through face-to face, phone calls and home visits. Provides Health Education and Risk Reduction strategies to patients. Assist with crisis intervention.
Perform Early Intervention Services and linkage to care. Collaborate and network with community partners, agencies and health organizations supporting HIV services and patient care.
Prepare program reports and enter data into Care Ware or other related database systems.
Provides pre and post-test counseling, obtain specimen for confirmatory testing, refers as appropriate and maintain records for MDHHS.
Organize and engage in community advisory board meetings, support group activities and special events.

Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree
Bachelor's degree in public health, psychology, sociology, counseling or related field from an accredited college or university. Two or more years' experience as a test counselor providing Human Immunodeficiency Virus support services to clients may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's degree.

Provide clinic operational support to the Pediatric Specialties ACU in an ambulatory care clinic setting.
