Job Summary
The Patient Food and Nutrition Services department at Michigan Medicine is seeking a full-time RegisteredDietitian Nutritionist (RDN) to provide nutrition care to a variety of medical and surgical pediatric patients. This position will perform nutrition assessments and develop nutrition care plans using the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Nutrition Care Process. The RDN hired for this position will provide recommendations for nutrition intervention, communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team, and conduct nutrition education. The RDN in this position will display a high level of customer service, attentiveness and consideration to patient care while providing evidence-based medical nutrition therapy including enteral and parenteral nutrition.

* Work a specified shift and ensuring appropriate RegisteredDietitian Nutritionist coverage during the hours of operation established by the Department of Patient Food and Nutrition Services.
* Accurately report productivity and time study data as required.
* Contribute to caseload smoothing within and among RegisteredDietitian Nutritionist teams.
* Adhere to deadlines established by the RDN supervisor.
Required Qualifications*

Summary:
The RegisteredDietitian is responsible for the assessment and planning of the nutritional care of the residents in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations, policies, and procedures, and in coordination with the Food Service Director/Manager to ensure that qualify food service and nutritional care is provided to the residents.
Qualifications:Education:
Bachelor's degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, or related field.
Licenses/Certification:
RegisteredDietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the American Dietetic Association.
License or certification as mandated by the state in which employed.
ServSafe Food Safety Certification preferred.
Experience:
Experience in long-term care environment and geriatric nutrition preferred.
Job Functions:
Maintains clinical nutrition documentation for residents in accordance with Nursing Center policy and procedure, as well as state and federal regulations.
Ensures that all assessments and progress notes documented in the medical records are accurate, informative, and descriptive of the services provided and of the resident's response to the plan of care.
Ensures all documentation is completed within the required timeframes and in accordance with Nursing Center policy and procedure, as well as state and federal regulations.
Participates with the interdisciplinary team in developing, implementing, and evaluating plans of care; attends meetings/conferences to discuss the clinical care of the resident; and communicates resident concerns and response to interventions to interdisciplinary team members and direct care staff.
Involves the resident/family in planning objectives and goals for the resident.

Provides feedback and suggestions to improve the menu.
Monitors food temperatures and quality at point of service.
Monitors the distribution of nourishments, supplements, and meals to residents and takes corrective action when necessary.
Assists the Food Service Director/Manager with processing diet orders and changes and ensuring that an accurate tray card is available for each resident receiving meals.
Ensures that new residents are visited upon admission to obtain a Diet History and food preferences, on the company approved form.
Routinely inspects the food service area(s) and practices.
Participates in the long-term care survey process.

The applicant will be a member of a RDN team conducting a federally funded malnutrition grant titled “Malnutrition Health Equity Among Community-Dwelling Older Adults.” This position entails performing malnutrition screenings and comprehensive assessments to include the Nutrition-Focused Physical Exam ( NFPE ) with older adults participating in Utah County community senior centers. In addition, the RDN would direct the intervention study phase by providing medical nutrition therapy for the older adults with malnutrition along with the complimentary data collection. The applicant will be required to interface with senior center directors and staff in developing the day-to-day grant activities at each of the research center sites. This position requires a minimum of a Bachelors in dietetics, nutrition, or nutrition-related field. Degree must be obtained through an accredited institution. Education is verified. Successful completion of an approved Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics program and registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration or registration eligible. This job offers flexible hours, local travel to community senior centers with mileage reimbursement and 40% remote work available.
