Prior to accepting the role of associate vice president and chief development officer at Michigan Medicine, Eric Barritt served as vice president of development, alumni and community engagement at Oakland University (OU) and the executive director of the Oakland University Foundation. In this capacity, he led a comprehensive advancement program for the university and oversaw a team of 75, including the offices of Alumni Relations, University Communications and Marketing, Major and Planned Giving, Annual Giving, Events, Corporate and Foundation Relations and Advancement Services. Since accepting the position in 2011, annual cash from philanthropy nearly quadrupled, new pledges tripled and the number of new gifts increased 40 percent. Applications and enrollment also grew substantially, while the quality of entering students also increased.

In 2006, Eric was hired by the Detroit Medical Center (DMC) as corporate vice president of development and campaigns. He worked collaboratively with a team of more than 40 fundraising professionals at the DMC and, under his direction, the DMC fundraising increased nearly fourfold. Eric also led the implementation of a new donor database, a wealth screening system and a grateful patient giving program.

From 1999 to 2006, Eric served in multiple roles at the University of Michigan, including director of development for the School of Kinesiology; the regional director of major gifts for the College of Literature, Science and the Arts (LSA); and director of development for the Life Sciences Institute (LSI). In all of these roles, Eric routinely worked with many of the university's largest donors, coordinated highlevel volunteers and increased fundraising results significantly.

Eric began his career in fundraising in 1997 at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, a world-renowned children's hospital that garners more than $500 million annually in philanthropy. He also served as director of major gifts at Oakwood Healthcare System - now part of Beaumont Health - working closely with Oakwood's Board of Trustees, major donors, volunteers and the Oakwood Healthcare Foundation staff.

Eric has a Master's Degree in Public Administration, a graduate certificate in non-profit management and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, all from the University of Michigan. He also holds a certificate from Harvard's Institute for Educational Management. He has served in leadership roles on numerous nonprofit boards and professional organizations, and in 2013 he was named to Oakland County Executive's Elite "40 under 40."

Keith Dickey joined Michigan Medicine in 2018 as Chief Strategy Officer, after serving as the interim Director for Strategic Planning and Business Development at Michigan Medicine since 2017.

Keith has more than 20 years of experience providing strategic and financial advisory services to the healthcare industry and has advised a broad range of healthcare providers, including integrated delivery systems, academic medical centers, children’s hospitals, provider-sponsored managed care organizations, senior care facilities, and clinical laboratories. Keith’s areas of expertise include enterprise and service line strategies; AMC funds flow; strategic capital planning; valuations; and mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and clinical affiliations.

Prior to and during his Interim role at Michigan Medicine, Keith was a Director with The Chartis Group, a national healthcare management consulting firm, and co-leader for the firm’s partnerships and affiliations practice. Keith has also worked as a healthcare investment banker, first at Shattuck Hammond Partners from 1996 until 2006, where he served as Chief Knowledge Officer and later Principal, and subsequently as a senior healthcare investment banker at the successor firms of Morgan Keegan & Company and then Raymond James and Associates following Morgan Keegan’s acquisition of Shattuck Hammond Partners in 2007 and its merger with Raymond James in 2012. From 1992 to 1996, Keith was a consultant at APM, Inc., a healthcare management consulting firm, where he focused on health system strategy and hospital operations re-engineering projects.

Keith holds a Ph.D. in Classical Archaeology from Bryn Mawr College and an A.B., magna cum laude, from Dartmouth College. He was a Fulbright scholar to Greece in 1987.

Compensation for staff is not equitable with person's experience and skills, people are hired for jobs not based on their skills and experience but are hired based on who you know not what you know, staff are not treated with dignity and respect, nor are they valued, oppressive and toxic work environment, created by unqualified, supervisors, and managers at the Medical School who lack the skills and experience to perform basic skills of their job,

How would you improve University of Michigan Health System's culture?

Actually treat people with dignity and respect as Michigan Medicine as it states in it's Core Values, treat people fairly and equitably, get rid of 40% of the staff who are simply coasting in their jobs and who are overpaid for the lack of contributions to Michigan medicine/medical school, make sure that investigations are done when staff are bullied and harassed and actions are taken to correct the issues.
