    About the Job PART-TIME UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA POLICE OFFICERS The University of Minnesota Police Department (UMPD) is hiring police officers to work part-time to provide police services at Gopher football games and other large scale special events. The game-day operations are based out of a Command Center in the Huntington Bank Stadium staffed by a UMPD command staff designee and dispatcher as well as athletics, facilities, and emergency management personnel. While working at the Huntington Bank Stadium, officers from other jurisdictions will be under the command of the UMPD. Officers from other jurisdictions are licensed as University of Minnesota peace officers via the P.O.S.T. Board's "secondary" licensing option. Officers are provided UMPD uniform shirts, a turtleneck, a jacket, an earpiece and a stocking cap. The officer must provide and wear all other uniform equipment and apparel and have been provided with the UMPD uniform policy. The UMPD does not provide any other uniforms, equipment, or weapons. Officers will be assigned in pairs when possible, with direct communication to the Command Center. Officers are asked to provide an 800 MHz portable radio from their full-time department, if possible. If this is not possible, officers will be issued at least one UMPD 800 MHz portable on a game by game basis. Insurance coverage typical to University employment will be provided by the University of Minnesota, including worker's compensation and liability insurance. Neither part-time officers nor the University will pay into the P.E.R.A. system and part-time officers will not accrue vacation, sick, or compensatory time nor be eligible for union benefits. Officers must be on a non-probationary status in their home departments. Officers must acknowledge UMPD's Use of Force policies, Detention Facility and Custodial Search policies, and Personal Appearance policies. Records of firearms certification and defensive tactics from their full-time departments as well as records of First Responder/EMT certification, if applicable, are maintained in a training file, along with records of training from the UMPD.     About the Job The University of Minnesota invites applications for a 9-month faculty position in Native American Nutrition and Food Systems at the Associate or Full Professor level in the Department of Food Science and Nutrition in the College of Food, Agricultural, and Natural Resource Sciences. The appointment will typically consist of 50% research and 50% teaching, but appointment percentages may vary depending on the qualifications and seniority of the appointee. This position will be a nine-month, tenured appointment involving research and teaching that supports the mission of the Department of Food Science and Nutrition. The appointee is expected to develop a strong extramurally funded research program that investigates the relationship between diet, lifestyle and health of Native American individuals, urban and/or tribal communities. The research program should be representative of the diversity of tribal communities in Minnesota. Expectations include leadership in organizing nutrition and food-related scholarly and community events, such as the Native American Nutrition Conference. JOB SUMMARY The Dispatch and Operations Lead is responsible for the overall operation of the Hamline University Public Safety 24-hour Communications Center. This role includes monitoring and managing security communications systems and providing accurate information and assistance to the campus community. In addition to overseeing Public Safety dispatch operations, the Dispatch and Operations Lead will manage the campus parking program and supervise the Anderson Student Center Welcome Desk. Additionally, the employee will perform research and related tasks in animal husbandry in evaluating the influence on animal welfare and scientific outcomes. The Center has a unique focus on primates, so while employees will be working with a variety of animals, they should have a strong interest in working with monkeys as this is an entry-level position in primate care, behavioral management and research. The employee will participate in center support by training new volunteers, keeping detailed records and reporting on the status of the animals, making updates and revisions to SOPs, and handle specimens or equipment while wearing appropriate personal protective equipment. When not occupied with routine tasks, the employee is expected to participate in other lab tasks as assigned to advance the team's work. The Carlson Global Institute (CGI) Education Abroad team plans and executes business education abroad programs for undergraduate and graduate students at the Carlson School of Management. Unique among public business schools all Carlson undergraduates complete an international experience as a part of their degree. The Education Abroad team is a highly dynamic cross-functional group of 8-10 international education professionals who work collaboratively to deliver high quality programs to a diverse population of students. This position leads the implementation and administration of a portfolio of faculty-led short-term education abroad courses for CGI. This position reports to the Education Abroad Program Director and works directly with University of Minnesota faculty and students, program providers, and international partners. As needed this position will work dynamically to support all areas within education abroad programming including domestic courses, exchange partnerships and programming and DEI activities. This position is based in Minneapolis on the West Bank of the University of Minnesota Twin Cities campus. JOB DESCRIPTION: Program Development & Implementation - 50% * Manage a portfolio of education abroad programs, which includes the implementation of all overseas arrangements, course schedules and related logistics, student recruitment, admissions, advising, orientation, health and safety, and registration processes. * Lead and coordinate systematic evaluation of programs, analyze student evaluations, interpret data and make recommendations for improving the quality of the educational and cultural experience for students. * Assist program directors with recruiting faculty and preparing selected faculty to lead and teach short-term programs and collaborate with faculty on program development. * Collaborate with multiple stakeholders (faculty, students, program providers, partner universities, program directors) to organize logistical arrangements, deliver related content, arrange program seminars, site visits, excursions and other details for faculty-led short-term programs as needed. * Oversee and manage contract processing and purchase order submissions for faculty-led programs. Troubleshoot and problem solve contract issues in collaboration with the Office of General Counsel. * Forecast, develop, and monitor budgets and manage revenue and expenses for program portfolio. Pay invoices for program expenses and develop reports for Program Director as needed for a portfolio of program budgets. * Travel abroad to serve as staff leader supporting faculty-led program as needed in January, Spring Break or May sessions * Interpret and implement department and university policies and procedures in the development of education abroad programs, and while serving as staff leader Program Promotion - 25% * Develop and update communication plans and materials associated with education abroad programs including but not limited to promotional materials, program websites, presentations, and pre-departure messaging to multiple stakeholders. * Represent CGI at school and university-wide promotional, prospective student and outreach events (e.g., Orientations, MBA Networking Events, Learning Abroad Fair, EAN), at professional conferences, with partner universities and program providers. * Execute and participate in education abroad promotional activities and events designed to increase student participation on CGI programs. * Contribute content to CGI social media sites, newsletters, year-in-review, and other publications. * Maintain relations and serve as an effective liaison with Carlson School and U of M offices (MBA, MA-HRIR, Undergraduate Program, Learning Abroad Center, etc.) regarding program promotion, recruitment and development information. Student Advising - 20% * Advise a diverse array of University of Minnesota undergraduate and graduate students before, during, and after program participation on program selection, application, financial aid and scholarships, education abroad policies and procedures, and related administrative issues. * Triage challenging and complex student situations and determine appropriate management and referral. Communicate with and involve Director of Education Abroad and program directors, Carlson School and University offices in final recommendations/solutions. * Acquire and maintain basic familiarity with best practices in advising students with diverse identities (e.g. low socio-economic status, first generation, mental health, veteran status, disability, GLBTQ+). * Train education abroad advisers on program portfolio as relevant for CGI advising purposes. * Collaborate on the on-going improvement of advising resources and streamline processes across advising centers (e.g. undergraduate and MBA) around the Carlson School and the University (e.g. Learning Abroad Center, OneStop, etc.). * Acquire and maintain familiarity with all education abroad programs offered by CGI and basic familiarity with Learning Abroad Center programs for advising purposes. * Participate in review committees across the Education Abroad team as needed. Miscellaneous - 5% * Participate and actively contribute at all levels of department staff and team meetings. * Provide support during international residency and welcome programs. * Represent CGI and the Carlson School at selected local, national and international committee activities to promote the Carlson School and its programs. * Lead and implement department projects, events, and initiatives as they arise and support as needed. * Other duties as assigned.
