Responsibilities * Prepares and administers radiopharmaceuticals to patients; performs a full range of nuclear medicine imaging procedures utilizing specialized equipment and techniques. * Explains procedures to patient, reviews patient medical history and physician's orders to determine dosage amounts and methods of delivery; positions the patient in a manner to facilitate optimum imaging results. * Calibrates and operates gamma scintillation cameras and computers, counters and scanners, dose calibrators, and other ancillary equipment; verifies scan quality; maintains patient records and documents the amount and type of radionuclides received, used, and discarded. * Maintains nuclear medicine equipment and supplies; reports equipment malfunctions to supervisor. * Monitors patients during treatment and recognizes emergency patient conditions; provides physical and psychological comfort to patient. * Ensures compliance with workplace safety, environmental, exposure control, and/or infection control practices. * Performs other duties as assigned.
