General Statement
Teach plumbing technology courses and supervise student plumbing trainees in a two-year associate of applied science (A.A.S.) degree program. The faculty member will teach approximately 24 semester credit hours of classes per year in the areas of basic plumbing theory, hand tool and instrument usage, plumbing distribution, boiler heating and wiring processes. The faculty member may also be expected to use a variety of distance delivery mediums. The person in this position will also be responsible for creating, updating, and maintaining proper lab facilities. Since a significant portion of the two-year plumbing program may be applied by students for a plumbing apprentice in Montana, the successful candidate may be expected to help in a two-year apprenticeship experience for traditional and non-traditional students. Some of the leadership responsibilities will include the development of course material, laboratory experiences, and facilities as well as establishing corporate and labor linkages to ensure Northern graduates are ready to work in the plumbing trade. In addition, the faculty may be involved in curriculum development, program growth, program assessment, working with an advisory board, and assisting in student recruitment efforts. Academic responsibilities will also include serving on campus committees, involvement in campus activities, and serving as an ambassador and collegiate member of the College of Technical Sciences.

* A master plumber license with experience in apprenticeship training
* Bachelor's Degree in a related field and willing to work on a Master's Degree in a related field

The Program
MSU-Northern's Plumbing Technology program is the only program in the state to offer an Associate of Applied Science in conjunction with the State of Montana Apprenticeship program.
Additionally, the Plumbing program offers apprentices the opportunity to learn in hands-on courses, and covers a major portion of the academic requirements of an apprenticeship. As a result, up to 1,500 hours can be applied toward the total 8,000 required apprenticeship hours, and graduates are prepared to start their career with a firm foundation of knowledge and skill.
Graduates of the Plumbing program will have the capacity to perform basic tasks with the supervision of a journeyman on the first day of work. After approximately two to three years of on-the-job training and one test preparation course, the graduate will be able to apply to sit for their journeyman's license.

The preferred candidate will have a Ph.D. in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, or related field (ABD may be considered) with expertise in general microbiology. The Department of Research Centers represents a unique organizational unit with faculty and staff that conduct research and outreach programs at seven off-campus research centers throughout Montana. This position is located at the Western Agricultural Research Center (WARC) near Corvallis, MT. The region has a significant and developing tree fruit/small fruit and other horticultural crops industry. The Human Development & Family Science program offers three options within the major: Child Development; Family and Consumer Sciences Education; and Human Development and Family Science.
