Additional Duties Additional Information on the College of Information Science and Technology, the School of Interdisciplinary Informatics, and UNO IS&T is an interdisciplinary college focusing on meeting the needs of a vibrant metropolitan area. The academic program portfolio of the college includes five undergraduate degree programs (Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Bioinformatics, Information Assurance, and IT Innovation) and six Master of Science degree programs (IT Innovation, Computer Science, Computer Science Education, Management Information Systems, Cybersecurity, and Biomedical Informatics). This position will be located in Lincoln, Nebraska. Research (.50 FTE) The research duties will be focused on post-harvest food safety issues of animal products. Possible research areas could include development of intervention or control strategies directed against foodborne pathogens; epidemiological studies of foodborne contamination along the supply chain; development of novel isolation or detection technologies for foodborne pathogens in foods and the food processing environment; or characterization of mechanisms responsible for persistence of pathogens in foods or food environments. The faculty member will be expected to collaborate with Meat Scientists at UNL. They will seek and establish effective disciplinary and transdisciplinary collaborations including effective integration with extension action teams, teaching programs and research groups.     Essential Functions The University of Nebraska at Omaha's Teacher Education Department is seeking a tenure-track assistant professor in Early Childhood/Elementary Mathematics Education to join our dynamic and growing team. We are seeking candidates who are accepting and affirming of all people and who have experience in methods of instruction in cultural competency and diversity inclusion. Successful candidates for the position should also have experience in technology and culturally relevant pedagogies and experience teaching in grades PK-6. Duties include teaching Early Childhood/Elementary Mathematics Education courses, both at graduate and undergraduate levels; scholarly research and publication; contributing to the diversity, inclusion, and equity efforts; partnering with the Mathematics Department on common initiatives; working with STEM initiatives on campus; working with state initiatives in Mathematics Education; supervising field experiences; collaborating with schools; and participating in institutional initiatives directed toward excellence in Teacher Education. Required Qualifications An earned doctorate in mathematics curriculum and instruction or related field required. ABD considered. Successful candidates must have knowledge of theoretical underpinnings and teaching methods and assessments for Early Childhood/Elementary Mathematics Education; at least three years of successful full-time teaching experience as a teacher in grades PK-6; evidence of scholarly research and professional service; and commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equity. Preferred Qualifications Preference will be given to candidates with: prior university teaching experience, evidence of excellence in teaching; involvement with supervision of university students in field experiences; experience as a mathematics specialist and/or mathematics coach; working with students in culturally/linguistically diverse student settings; collaborative research experience; collaboration experience between a university and public schools; knowledge of instructional technology in PK-6 curriculum; experience with online or blended teaching and learning; external funding experience; and prior experience in leadership roles in higher education.
