Encouraging participation in the first-year experience, the senior year seminar, core curriculum, undergraduate research, and experiential learning will be important. The dean will need to transform a previous organizational structure of separate divisions under a new and dynamic college. The dean will help to create a culture of student success and career readiness that is as much a part of our ethos as is the liberal arts and experiential education. 5) Innovation and relevance: Academic Affairs will lead the institution by implementing an applied liberal arts and sciences focus those results in career-ready graduates who can tackle contemporary challenges in an ever-changing world, with solutions that require adaptability and the application of multiple perspectives. This will be accomplished through project-based learning, community partnerships, experiential learning, interdisciplinarity, and the cultivation of career-ready outcomes in all degree programs. Academic Affairs will also need to expand the capacity of education programming beyond our traditional students to include increased online offerings, graduate programs, and educational opportunities that are not a traditional four-year degree (certificates, badges, micro-credentials). Qualifications Minimum Education/Experience/Skills: This position requires a PhD or terminal degree from an accredited institution. The successful candidate should hold tenure from an accredited institution at the associate professor or higher. Five to seven years of higher education experience, with prior leadership and/or supervisor experience. This is a 12-month position with no teaching or research expectations. The successful candidate will have faculty status with a right of return to the faculty. The initial appointment will be for three years, with the possibility to extend after a 360-review and negotiation with the provost. This position serves at the discretion of the provost which may render terms shorter or longer than three years. Preferred Education/Experience/Skills: At least three years of higher education administrative experience. Strong preference for a candidate who hold holds tenure in a discipline of the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences. Work involves receiving emergency and non-emergency calls, monitoring alarms, obtaining and relaying information, prioritizing calls/alarms and coordinating response procedures, dispatching appropriate public safety personnel, and maintaining public safety communications logs and databases utilizing Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD). The employee in this position is responsible for operating a host of complex telecommunications and computer equipment, including multi-line phone systems, multi-channel police consoles, two-way radios, scanners, monitoring security cameras and Division of Criminal Information terminals. Work requires knowledge of applicable Federal Communications Commission rules and regulations, an understanding of public safety operations, and skill in the operation of telecommunications technology. This position requires the ability to multi-task and to remain calm and composed in high-stress situations.
