The Teaching Assistant Professor is a fixed-term position that will join an active, collegial, and intellectually vibrant community. The initial contract term will be three years, and the position will be eligible for renewal pending availability of funding. Anthropology at UNC-Chapel Hill is a large, three-subfield department with a growing Medical Anthropology program. Our faculty's current strengths in biocultural and medical anthropology include health inequities, mental health, population health, food and nutrition, maternal and child health, embodiment, gender and health, pharmaceuticals, anthropology of science, and global health.
Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The Department of Anthropology at UNC Chapel Hill fosters an environment where multiple approaches coexist and intersect. We support studies, research, and professional applications in the three subfields of foundational training, Sociocultural Anthropology, Human Biology, Ecology and Evolution; and Archaeology one cross-disciplinary program in Medical Anthropology and a concentration focused on Race, Difference and Power. The goals of this approach are to permit crosscutting research on the part of faculty and students, to encourage engagement with other programs and interdisciplinary units on campus and to allow interest groups to form around particular problems as they emerge. Within this larger, open structure, the department maintains strong collective interest in issues of globalization, nature and the environment, public anthropology, cultural studies and political economy. It also features strong collective interest in the regional study of North America (particularly the southern United States), Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as Europe and Asia (particularly Southeast Asia). None of these interests are exclusive, however, and faculty members work on a variety of topics in a variety of settings.
Position Summary
The Teaching Assistant Professor in Medical Anthropology will teach both large introductory and smaller upper-level undergraduate courses in the Medical Anthropology major. The position will contribute to the regular rotation of our flagship medical anthropology and biocultural courses. This position will have the opportunity to teach existing biocultural courses and to develop other courses in their area of expertise that will contribute to strengthening the department's undergraduate curriculum. The teaching load is three undergraduate courses per semester, which will constitute the primary responsibility of the position.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Ph.D. in Anthropology or a related field; demonstrated ability to teach introductory and upper-level undergraduate courses in anthropology; demonstrated excellence and experience in undergraduate teaching whose expertise complements that of the department's current faculty; and ability to contribute to an academic environment that fosters learning and growth for all its stakeholders. In addition, a broad background in biocultural anthropology is also required.

Position Summary
The Department of Dramatic Art at UNC-Chapel Hill invites applications for a full-time Teaching Assistant Professor of Dramaturgy (non-tenure track, fixed-term). The successful candidate will teach a 3/3 load (six courses annually), with primary responsibility for the theatre history sequence required for the major. This includes Theatre History (DRAM 220 which covers theatre beyond the Euro-American tradition) and two additional theatre history courses. As a dramaturg, the faculty member will bring historical and critical perspectives into the classroom, helping students connect theatrical traditions and contexts to contemporary practice and production.
In addition to teaching, the candidate may have the opportunity to work with PlayMakers Repertory company and/or the Kenan Theatre Company.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Applicants must hold a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Dramaturgy or Theatre or related discipline and have at least three years of teaching experience at the university, college, or professional level. The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in dramaturgy and related practices, along with strong skills in communication, collaboration, and mentoring.

Professional dramaturgy experience with LORT/AEA or other professional theatres, new play development, or experience in directing and producing. Experience teaching Asian, African, Latin American, Latine theatre or performance.

The Department of Philosophy looks at the history of struggles to answer these fundamental questions and develops analytical and critical resources for engaging these questions as they arise in individual and common experience. There is a permanent faculty count of 21 and a fixed-term faculty count of 5 (depending on academic year and funding availability) who provide instruction on both the Undergraduate and graduate level. The Department currently enrolls hundreds of students every fall, spring and summer and houses the PPE Program (Philosophy, Political Science and Economics) and the Parr Center for Ethics. There are also 37 enrolled graduate student teaching assistants who provide instruction to undergraduates throughout the academic year. Both the faculty and the graduate students are actively engaged in research in areas including ethics, political philosophy, ancient philosophy, philosophy of mind, metaphysics, philosophy of science, and philosophy of language.
Position Summary
The Department of Philosophy is recruiting for a tenure-track Assistant Professor with interests in any area of philosophy, with current areas of need including areas of political philosophy, metaphysics, philosophy of science, early modern philosophy, philosophy of race and/or gender, aesthetics, and non-Western philosophy. Significant promise of research excellence is a necessary condition for consideration, as is evidence of strong skills in teaching.
