You will be responsible providing accounting services as part of OCU's overall financial operations and function including general ledger accounting, receivables and cash receipts processing, bank account monitoring, gift and pledge transaction processing and tracking, classifying transactions, account reconciliations, budget and fund transfers, journal voucher processing and posting, general data entry and maintenance in the primary ERP and Accounting database (i.e. Banner), account analysis and research, as well as other financial accounting activities. An associate's degree in accounting, bookkeeping, or a related field is required at minimum. Other college or professional education may be acceptable, depending on its nature and relevance. Experience in the Higher Education or Non-Profit industries is a plus, but not a requirement. You're required to have a minimum of 2 year's accounting or Bookkeeping experience that demonstrates a strong competency the basics of these fields and administrative work. A suitable combination of education and experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or other related fields may be substituted in certain circumstances for the above minimum qualifications. About this Position The College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology (CEAT) invites applications for an Accounting Specialist or Senior Accounting Specialist on our financial operations team. The Accounting Specialist provides financial liaison support between the college and assigned CEAT departments. This support includes but is not limited to the preparation and auditing of labor redistributions; P-Card correction forms; Retroactive Cost Transfer forms; and Time & Effort reporting. The Accounting Specialist actively trains departmental staff and answers questions regarding OK Corral, Banner, and the Works system. Other primary responsibilities include but are not limited to assisting with P-Card processing, acting as the approving manager for the CEAT Deans' offices, and providing back-up for the college; verifying the accuracy of receipts and other submissions; reconciling funds for specific areas within CEAT; preparing OSU Foundation vouchers for reimbursement or payment, and tracking expenditures from Foundation accounts; preparing various financial documentation and logging and tracking information and expenditures; and assisting during the annual budget process. The Accounting Specialist must be able to manage their time effectively, maintain organization of their assignments, and be customer service oriented. They must be able to work collaboratively on a team as well as independently and must be able to handle special projects when assigned.
