Do you want to join a fast-paced, newly formed strategic marketing and communications department where you can leave your mark on the University's digital footprint? The successful candidate will work alongside stakeholders across the entire university with a distinct focus on the OU Health Campus and College of Medicine, to align, create, and facilitate content and best practices for website creation and maintenance. This high visibility and high impact role will work alongside the web team to drive change for our colleges, units, and divisions by not only attracting our audiences to our websites but also providing engaging actions that resonate with these audiences. The role builds, updates, and maintains web pages within the university's content management systems (CMSs), ensuring content is clear, consistent and accessible. The successful candidate will be empowered to use their creativity to create innovative solutions, to enhance websites using tactful execution, a keen eye for data-driven results, and showcase and elevate the OU brand in a digital-first platform.
Duties:
* The Digital Web Strategist is responsible for leading, strategizing, managing, and executing web projects and tasks associated with the University of Oklahoma. This includes web strategies, content updates, project management, usability, brand standards and assisting with design.
* Using a client-focused approach, works directly with staff in departments to develop and update their websites. Creates and establishes processes and schedules to liaise with internal constituents and externally with vendors to ensure streamlined processes for all strategic web projects.
* Plans, develops, and project manages assignments and incoming workflow and support the web team using best practices to ensure all projects are on time.
* Conceptualizes, researches, and executes web projects and initiatives requiring a high degree of sophistication and depth of knowledge in order to promote the OU brand. Including but not limited to building, formatting and maintain web pages in the CMS.
* Responsible for coordinating strategic web development, design, and managing feedback.
* Oversee content posted to the public website as consistent, accurate, and relevant by collaborating with University constituencies and their department content authors.
* Works directly in the content management system to maintain, create and update content for website.
* Monitor, evaluate, report and analyze web analytics/activity for public website, share trend results with corresponding departments.
* Other duties as assigned.
Required Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, English, Journalism, Communications, or related field.
* 24 months of related experience.
Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months of experience in lieu of Bachelor's Degree for a total of 72 months related experience.
Skills:
* Knowledge of University policies and procedures.
* Strong knowledge of HTML for formatting and structuring content within CMSs.
* Proficiency in CSS to adjust styling within templates as needed.
* Familiarity with JavaScript
* Experience with web accessibility standards (WCAG) and best practices.
* Basic understanding of SEO principles to optimize content visibility.
* Strong attention to detail and ability to troubleshoot minor technical issues.
* Ability to work collaboratively as part of the Marketing and Communications Web Team.
* Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with the ability to execute program deliverables.
* Creativity, flexibility, and the ability to communicate and work effectively and efficiently with diverse groups within OU (administrators, faculty, staff, students, alumni, patients).
* Ability to analyze data and use metrics to make adjustments, track usage, and determine effectiveness.
* Ability to coordinate and organize requests and prioritize, oversee and facilitate projects and requests with strong attention to detail
* Ability to lead effective design strategies that align with the University's brand and marketing strategies
* Experience working in a web content management system, especially Adobe Experience Manager and Evoke.
* Knowledge of current media technology and its use for effective web communication strategies.

Purpose of Position

* Designs, creates, and modifies and maintains applications, development frameworks, and systems level software. Creation of some new applications.
* Modifies and writes device drivers for interfacing with hardware.
* Creates and modifies real-time executive and control software.
* Designs, modifies, and creates mathematical support library, systems utilities, and debug packages under the direction of a more senior engineer.
* Evaluates hardware and software to be installed on FSI-SS computer systems. Provides reports and recommendations.
* Provides support to team leaders and project engineers in software requirements, design, and implementation.
* Provides guidance to less senior engineers in the department. Provides recommendations for improvements.
* Documents operating system, application and development software.
* Works with fellow software engineers, hardware engineers and management to affect a smoothly integrated system.
* Performs application design from research to testing phase with limited supervision.
