The successful candidate will be employed under a large NIH program award that supports three different laboratories on the OUHSC campus, all focused on the immune response to C. difficile. They will be responsible for coordinating critical resources and performing experiments that allow the laboratories to compare their results over time and with each other. Expertise in any area including bacteriology, molecular biology, protein expression and purification, infection studies, and immune responses is desirable, although specific training in each method will be provided. This is expected to be a highly rewarding opportunity to perform critical research that advances the a multi-pronged approach to developing an efficacious C. difficile vaccine and ideas for novel therapies. Provides assistance to a research staff by conducting simple research experiments, collecting data and samples, keeping records, conducting literature searches, analyzing data, and preparing reports. Goddard Health Center is the ambulatory care facility on the Norman campus providing primary care services to students, faculty, staff and dependents. We provide in-house medical laboratory and x-ray services, have a physical therapy department and full-service pharmacy. Job Description Responsible for collecting, analyzing and reporting laboratory results in a timely manner while ensuring patient and staff safety. Ensures analyzers and other laboratory equipment are operating within normal standards through maintenance, quality, control, calibration, and troubleshooting, as required. * Preparation for Laboratory tests. Interact with patients, other health team members and outside provider clinics to process patient orders for walk-in testing requests, in-house providers, and outside providers. Ensure all necessary information is present for all orders and correct any missing information with provider, as needed. Instruct patients in self-collect specimens. * Sample Collection and Performance of Laboratory tests. Collect correct samples for tests ordered and ensure special collection requirements are met.
