* Demonstrate knowledge of proper pesticide use--handling, mixing, applying, and clean-up of pesticide equipment.
* Take part in watering plants and containers on a rotating weekend schedule.
* Participate in the Horticulture Department's project days.
* Interact with visitors as garden ambassadors.
* Direct horticulture volunteers under the section leader's guidance.

Job Description
The Plant Propagation Apprenticeship covers the whole range of traditional plant propagation skills and production schemes. The Apprentice will spend 12 months (expected duration of apprenticeship) receiving hands-on training in seed and cutting propagation, nursery and greenhouse management, organic pest control and maintenance of a unique Victorian Fernery. Whomever is selected for this part-time position should expect to work upwards of 40 hours a week depending on operational need. This position pays $16.00 an hour.
Duties & Responsibilities
* Seed, division and cutting propagation, potting, watering and pruning.
* Assist with the production of 5,000 container plants annually for use in the gardens and for distribution.
* Data collection and inventory management.
* Management of the field nursery, pest, and disease monitoring.
* Scheduling weekend and holiday watering.
* Complete a project under the direction of propagator.
* Participate in monthly education trips as scheduled.
* Supervise volunteers as required.
* Perform fernery maintenance.
* Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
* Degree in horticulture or related field, with course work in propagation and nursery management.
* Prior experience in nursery, greenhouse and or plant science research work helpful.

The Adult Education Apprentice is an integral part of the team that develops and delivers educational programming for professionals, adults, families, and children. Work Environment
The Adult Education Apprentice has their own workstation in a shared office. Most days are spent indoors, though the apprentice should be comfortable in outdoor settings. The Natural Areas is made up of 45 acres on the public garden side of the Arboretum, which includes a 3-acre wetland, meadows, stream, woodland, and the main entrance. In addition, the historic 65-acre Bloomfield Farm property includes research plots, meadows, a floodplain, privately administered community gardens, a woody plant nursery, green roofs, a platinum LEED certified Horticulture Center, a historic grist mill, and the Arboretum's materials handling site.
The Hay Honey Farm Endowed Natural Areas Apprentice receives hands-on training in all phases of ecological garden development and care of the more than 100 acres of Natural Lands at the Morris Arboretum. Emphasis is placed on refining practical horticultural skills and the safe use and care of small and large power equipment; supervisory skills are developed by directing the activities of volunteers and seasonal employees.
Whomever is selected for this part-time position should expect to work upwards of 40 hours a week depending on operational need. This position pays $16.00 an hour.
Responsibilities
* Assist with all garden tasks, including weeding, pruning, planting, mulching, and turf care.
* Learn to properly identify weeds and implement control methods.
* Demonstrate pruning skills and assist in formative pruning of the Arboretum's plant collection.
* Demonstrate knowledge of proper pesticide use--handling, mixing, applying, and clean-up of pesticide equipment.
* Take part in watering plants and containers on a rotating weekend schedule.
* Participate in the Horticulture Department's project days.
* Learn to operate the Natural Areas machinery.

Purpose: Under the direction of a licensed Audiologist, assesses all aspects of auditory function in children ages birth to 18 years of age and implements a plan of auditory habilitation for those with auditory dysfunction. * Perform responsibilities regarding billing by completing proper forms and documentation.
* Compile and interpret test results to determine hearing sensitivity for speech and specific frequency signals; speech perception ability; middle ear function; cochlear function; auditory brainstem function; central auditory function and site of lesion information.
* Relate auditory function to communication needs of the patient to develop a re/habilitative plan and recommendations which address, as necessary, the need for medical consultation to explore etiology and determine need for medical intervention; the need to explore amplification options and the need for enrollment in an ongoing treatment program.
* Assesses patient's ability to benefit from amplification and make recommendations regarding amplification needs. Assist family in procuring appropriate amplification and locating ongoing treatment programs/services as needed.
* Counsel family members concerning the special needs of hearing impaired children to effectively involve parents and other family members in the treatment and management of hearing dysfunction.
* Monitor and evaluate patient progress and recommend revisions in treatment plans to meet changing needs of patient. Maintain contact with patient's family members and other members of healthcare and re/habilitative team regarding patient's auditory function and progress.
* Employ conventional, play audiometry and behavioral observation audiometry techniques as well as electrophysiologic tests. Uses electroacoustic instrumentation including audiometers, acoustic immittance and evoked otoacoustic emission systems and electrical response test equipment.
* Maintain records and progress notes detailing diagnosis, habilitation and effect on patients.
* Prepare reports of findings, interpretation of test results, and recommendations, reviewed and co-signed by a licensed audiologist.

Job Description
The Youth and Visitor Education Apprentice is an integral part of the Education team, which develops and delivers educational programs for professionals, adults, families, and children. The apprentice works with staff to direct the activities of education volunteers, which include training, workshop planning, and program support. The Youth and Visitor Education Apprentice meets regularly with volunteers and other professionals to plan, coordinate, and evaluate programs. The apprentice has the opportunity to communicate with the public, regularly interfacing with visitors of all ages through monthly programs and events. This position is supported by the McLean Contributionship Education Apprenticeship Endowment.

Duties & Responsibilities
+ Develop plan and lead Outdoor Career Symposium; a forum for high school students to engage with professionals in the horticulture industry
+ Develop STEAM/STEELS activities and help coordinate field trips for middle-school, English-language-learners' summer program
+ Develop and lead monthly programming for Morris' visitors, like monthly Storytime and seasonal programming
+ Develop and teach 1 classes included in the Morris class catalogue.
+ Help develop programs for school groups and Morris visitors
+ Create temporary interpretive signs for interesting plants
+ Maintain and create programming for Morris' Whimsical Woods and Fairy Gardens
+ Attend meetings and participate in professional development as scheduled
+ Assist with group tours and guides, including prep and breakdown, greeting groups, and distributing surveys
+ Early arrival (between 8:00am - 8:30am) to support tours is required. Weekend duties as required.

Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree required
+ Experience with direct youth service (i.e.. Teaching, leading workshops, nonprofit youth development, camp counselor or camp experience) preferred

The Youth and Visitor Education Apprentice has their own workstation in a shared office that provides the camaraderie offered by a small and supportive staff. The position includes regular field trips with Education Team, a monthly Apprentice education program, as well as the opportunity to attend at least one professional conference.
