Position Summary
The Department of Biostatistics is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Data Analyst to provide analytical and technical support for several health research projects focusing on the health impacts of environmental factors and extreme weather. Many of these projects are based in Ethiopia, Kenya and Uganda under the umbrella of the NIH funded Global, Environmental and Occupational Health (GEOHealth) Hub for Eastern Africa. Studies focus on investigating the effects of ambient air pollution on respiratory, cardiovascular and cognitive outcomes of cohorts of school children and their mothers. Additional studies focus on the impact of extreme heat stress on the productivity and health of agricultural workers. All studies aim towards promoting air pollution and extreme heat management regulation. The Data Analyst will work closely with investigators from the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health and partners from the Colorado School of Public Health, Colorado State University and University of Maryland. The data analyst will also work closely with data teams at Addis Ababa University (Ethiopia), University of Nairobi (Kenya) and Makerere University (Uganda).
* This is a one (1) year temporary position from the date of hire with the possibility for extension. The selected candidate must live in the New York tri-state area. Responsibilities
The Data Analyst will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including, but not limited to,
* providing data science support to international partners with primary data collected locally and regional energy use datasets;
* managing high frequency sensor-based and questionnaire-based data sets on pollution concentrations and exposure;
* transforming sensor data and raster data into usable air pollution exposure statistics;

The Charge Master Coding Analyst is responsible for maintaining the integrity, accuracy, and compliance of the hospital's charge description master (CDM). This role ensures that all clinical services, supplies, and procedures are correctly coded and mapped for appropriate billing and revenue reporting. The analyst works closely with Clinical, Finance, Revenue Cycle, and IT Teams to analyze and implement new service request, coding updates, price changes, and regulatory modifications. The position plays a key role in optimizing revenue capture, minimizing compliance risk, and supporting hospital operations through accurate and up-to-date charge data. Any candidate must possess a strong understanding in hospital billing, OPPS reimbursement, be proficient in excel, and able to work autonomously to resolve problems as they arise. Essential Job Functions
Perform analysis to understand net revenue effect of proposed chargemaster changes. This analysis may include, but is not limited to, pricing analysis on a periodic basis, new service revenue modeling and sensitivity analysis pertaining to applicable industry trends.
Analyzes data within the CDM and assigns accurate CPT/HCPCS and revenue codes to CDM to insure compliance with regulatory agencies.
Monitor and review daily revenue reports (specifically the Patient Accounting System) for accuracy and completeness using requisite I/T tools.
Performs annual pricing analysis with recommendations for optimizing revenue opportunities.
Understand the market place relative to pricing and suggest response to new providers.
Work with managed care contracting personnel in the development and analysis of contracts with payers.
Responds to CDM inquiries and requests timely.
Resolve coding discrepancies.
Assist with education of departmental staff on changes.
Report to management on monthly financial results.
Establish, maintain, and coordinate new charges and CDM process improvements.
Recommend, develop and maintain financial databases, computer software systems and manual filing systems.
Survey operations to ascertain CDM needs and to recommend, develop and maintain solutions to business and financial problems.
Utilize knowledge gained from educations programs in everyday work situations.

Required Qualifications

Knowledge of UB-04 data elements requirements, state healthcare billing requirements and Medicare rules preferred.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Associate Director, Assessment and Analytics, the Assessment Program Senior Assessment Analyst manages and participates in assessment efforts across Columbia University Libraries; leads the collection, verification, maintenance, analysis, and documentation of assessment and analytics data; contributes to an evidence-based approach to achieving strategic initiatives related to library operations and user needs; develops, produces, and disseminates annual and ad hoc reports; promotes data transparency and awareness across the Libraries; coordinates and supports colleagues engaged in assessment work. Works with staff across the Libraries to employ assessment measures and data analysis tools, and methodologies effectively.
Responsibilities
* Analyzes and interprets quantitative data to identify trends, patterns, and insights that inform decision-making, planning, and evaluation of library programs and services. Prepares summaries and visualizations for leadership and other stakeholders.
* Designs and conducts qualitative research studies-including surveys, focus groups, interviews, usability studies, and other qualitative or mixed-method approaches-to assess library services, user experiences, and organizational effectiveness. Manages research design, data collection, analysis, and reporting.
* Promotes data transparency by creating and maintaining a standardized set of dashboards to increase the ability of the Libraries' staff to access, use, and understand data for decision-making. Ensures the accurate and timely availability of assessment reports on the staff intranet and other collaborative document management tools.
* Plans, develops, and executes appropriate assessment and planning approaches, methods, measures, techniques, documentation, and infrastructure for a sustainable institutional assessment program.
* Works with various divisions across the library system (Technical Services, Collection Development, Distinctive Collections units, Library Information Technology, Research & Learning, Access Services, Financial Services, etc.) to appropriately manage and secure sources of data with an aim to enable data-informed decision-making.
* Fosters a culture of assessment and continuous improvement by leading workshops, consultations, and training programs on data literacy, assessment methods, and interpretation of results.
* Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned or required to meet the Libraries' and the University's goals and objectives.
Minimum Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Social Science, Applied Statistics, Education, or a related field with demonstrated experience in data analysis is required.
* 3-5 years of experience designing and applying qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-methods research methodologies in an organizational setting.
* Proficiency in using SPSS.
* Experience with dashboard development and data visualization using software such as Tableau, Excel, etc.
* Experience using survey platforms, such as Qualtrics.
* Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate findings to non-technical audiences.
* Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment. Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to form strong collaborative relationships.
* Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and work under deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
* Advanced degree in Social Science Research Methods, Statistics, Measurement, Assessment, and Research, or a related field.
* Working knowledge and experience in libraries, higher education, cultural heritage, or non-profit organizations.
* Proficiency in using qualitative and quantitative analysis software such as SAS, R, NVivo, etc.
* Experience developing and performing training programs for both individuals and groups.
* Experience with recognizing and appropriately handling confidential or sensitive requests; respecting the privacy of all library users and employees; and following ethical or institutional review board (IRB) guidelines to ensure the protection of human research subjects.
* Competence with various technologies and applications; willingness to explore the use of new technology in support of effectively achieving goals.
* High risk tolerance for failure and iterative improvement.

Required Qualifications

**Responsibilities:**
GENERAL PURPOSE
Gathers information, analyzes and interprets data and disseminates information. Reviews daily pharmaceutical orders. **ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS**

+ Manages specialty and limited access drugs, some of which are patient specific. Works with specialty pharmacies and manufacturers to determine eligibility and manages the scheduling of deliveries as needed for patient care.
+ Runs various reports to track high cost or non-formulary medications. Evaluate the need for additional orders based on current inventory.
+ Fulfills clinic order requests. Identifies and scans appropriate products in electronic health record and validates appropriate medication requests are distributed in a timely manner. Follows up on orders to confirm completion.
+ Manages default NDC settings and identifies the most appropriate NDCs for purchase. Ensures appropriate NDCs are setup when distributing medications to clinics.
+ Identifies new electronic health record build requests. Manages submission and follow up of tickets in collaboration with informatics team and supply chain leadership.
+ Confers routinely with vendors and departments to follow up on backorders, payment problems or service issues. Collaborates with others regarding availability of shortage products and expected availability.
+ Verifies price quotes for small dollar transactions for other departments and provides reporting guidance for administrators related to ledger expenses generated by pharmacy distributions.
+ Handles phone calls and advises faculty and staff on appropriate procurement procedures. Provides information related to ordering, invoicing, and replenishment.
+ Manages ticketing database, requesting additional information as needed or completing requests to keep lists up to date. Assists in maintaining vendor database information (ASC).
