Responsibilities:
NP or PASchedule Full Time Responsibilities Exciting opportunity for an experienced and highly motivated APP to join the URMC Department of Neurosurgery in its regional program. The successful candidate will work on behalf of both general and subspecialty neurosurgery providers, under the direction of the Vice Chair of Regional Neurosurgery and will deliver medical care to patients in various regional outpatient settings. Periodic travel to regional locations required (5-8 days per month). Responsibilities: - After significant guidance and training, responsible for outpatient general and subspecialty neurosurgery clinics for patients living outside of Monroe County. Clinics will be offered in both in-person and telehealth formats. (Clinic sites to include Auburn, Cooperstown, Watertown, and Binghamton, NY areas.) - After significant guidance and training, manage outpatient clinic independently, with minimal supervision. - Work independently and collaboratively with members of various neurosurgery provider care teams and in outpatient office environment. - Travel to regional sites five to eight times per month to offer outpatient neurosurgery subspecialty clinics at regional hub sites. - Obtain comprehensive history and physicals. - Coordinate, review, and follow up on diagnostic imaging, laboratory testing, and procedures. - Perform physical examinations and diagnostic tests. - Perform postoperative follow up and evaluation of surgical patients in the outpatient setting. - Complete preoperative workup and consenting of patients in the outpatient setting. - Clearly communicate diagnostic testing results to providers and patients. - Prescribe medications and support patients in pre and post treatment planning. - Educate patients and families about cerebrovascular disease processes and treatment plans. - Updates families about procedural timelines and outcomes. - Document patient care in electronic medical records. - Respond to patient questions and concerns. - Participate in the education of learners in regional settings, using clinical learning experiences, knowledge sharing and skills training. - Maintain patient confidentiality. - Obtain and maintain certification for Moderate Sedation, BLS, ACLS. Qualifications: - Applicant must demonstrate excellent communication skills with an ability to make independent decisions in the management of complex stroke and cerebrovascular disease patient care. Extensive on-the-job training will also be provided. - Applicant must possess a commitment to providing quality patient care and ability to work in a fast-paced environment. - Current NYS PA/ NP license. - PAs: current certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). - NPs: current certification from the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board (AANPCB). - Experience preferred. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team. - Proficiency in the use of the EPIC electronic medical record system. Qualifications Nurse Practitioner Require a Master's degree (or pending) as a Nurse Practitioner, an active New York State Registered Nurse license in good standing, an active/pending New York State Nurse Practitioner licensure in good standing and current/pending national certification as an Nurse Practitioner. Physician Assistant Requires completion (or pending) of an ARC-PA approved Physician Assistant program, an active/pending New York State Physician Assistant licensure in good standing and current/pending national certification as a Physician Assistant by the NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants) NPs and PAs will demonstrate clinical competence, superior verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal effectiveness and customer relations skills, computer competence and must have an active desire to learn. The APP will participate in the education of learners (students and new employees), using clinical learning experiences, knowledge sharing and skill training.

The pediatric department offers a multi-disciplinary team that supports the ability of the pediatric community to provide primary and subspecialty care to meet the needs of the pediatric population in the West Texas and Eastern New Mexico regions. The department is comprised of 48 faculty positions, 13 APPs, and approximately 130 staff members which include nursing and nursing support, PSS, and referral team members. The department operates in 6 clinical locations, 2 Cancer Centers, 2 Hospitals, a Cytogenetics/Genomics Lab as well as a Cancer Research Center…all located in Lubbock. The administrative team is located in the HSC building and contains the Chair, Senior Clinical Administrator, Associate Administrator of Clinical Operations, Associate Administrator of Finance, Billing and Coding team, Departmental HR and license renewals, and education coordinators. Located outside of the clinical space, but designated departmental space is the managed care team.
Our faculty positions include 1 Chair, 12 Generalists, 12 Hospitalists, 4 Hematology/Oncology, 4 Intensivists, 3 Cancer Center Research, 3 Neurosurgeons, 2 Infectious Disease, 1 of each of the following: Adolescent Medicine, Child Abuse, Cytogenetics/Genomics, Pulmonology. The Neurology Division currently consists of 1 full-time provider (Assistant Professor), and 1 Nurse Practitioner to grow the Division to 3 full-time pediatric neurologists
We have a robust, fully accredited pediatric residency program with 24 residents, with a board passing rate of 100%

Responsibilities:
7 half days of in-clinic coverage and on-call of one hospital for inpatient coverage shared with another pediatric neurology physician, pediatric neurology nurse practitioners, and locum tenants physicians, which are connected to each other by a walkway.
Instruct and supervise pediatric neurology residents and rotations.
Protected 2 half days of administrative time per week.

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Job Description
Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of Health Service, the Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant assists the Health Service team in the performance of direct patient care services for our college population to include diagnostic and therapeutic services with off-site physician supervision. Within the PA or NP Physician relationship, the advanced care practitioner exercises autonomy in medical decision making and services provided.
This advanced care practitioner should have an advanced knowledge base and skills in health promotion and maintenance, disease prevention, physical and psychosocial assessment and management of health and illness applicable to the care of college students. The PA/NP will provide acute illness or injury triage and care, manage chronic disease, provide gynecological and gender affirming services, perform STI screening, prevention and treatment as well as alcohol and substance misuse screening and education.
Responsibilities
Perform efficient and high quality outpatient clinical primary care in collaboration with our medical staff.
Complete concurrent and comprehensive documentation for each patient encounter.
Order diagnostic testing and therapeutic modalities such as lab tests, imaging studies, EKGs.
Prescribe and administer medications consistent within the PA/NP and supervising Physician's scope of practice.
Respond to on-campus emergencies when needed.
Conduct sports physicals, travel health physicals and preventive health screening exams.
Collaborate with the sports medicine and athletics departments to provide medical support to student athletes.
Provide health counseling and education to patients including, but not limited to, substance and alcohol use disorder and sexual health related concerns.
Provide medical support during campus wide events.
Perform additional clinical tasks as delegated to support the operations of the department.
Required knowledge, skills and abilities
Current Registered Nurse and Family Nurse Practitioner license or Physician Assistant license in the State of New York.
Baccalaureate degree.
Three years of advanced care provider experience in either Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine, or College Health or related field.
Current BLS level CPR certification.
Progressive leadership skills; ability to develop, guide, motivate, and coach others.
Ability to adapt to changing protocols and guidelines based on the healthcare field.
Must be able to function with a high level of autonomy, be self-motivated; detail oriented, and proficient in electronic health record documentation.
Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the department and institution.
Preferred knowledge, skills and abilities
ACLS/PALS certification.
Current DEA license.
Experience using Medicat electronic health record system or comparable system.
Prior experience in urgent/emergency care.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Hofstra University's School of Nursing and Physician Assistant Studies seeks an Adjunct Clinical Academic Faculty member to teach in the Department of Physician Assistant Studies. Reporting to the Program Director, the adjunct faculty member will provide instruction during the didactic, clinical, and research phases of the PA program across Fall, Spring, and Summer terms.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Provide dual-degree, didactic year, clinical year, and/or research semester instruction during Fall, Spring, and Summer terms.
* Instruct and assess students in courses such as physical examination and diagnostic modalities, correlative medicine, structure lab, simulation activities, and summative exams.
* Proctor examinations and assist with exam administration.
* Identify students with performance deficiencies and develop strategies to address deficiencies, including remediation exercises.
* Act as a liaison to core faculty for college resources, textbooks, and teaching materials.
* Update instructional materials on learning management systems (e.g., Canvas) and ensure course materials are posted in a timely manner.
* Collaborate with program leadership to enhance curriculum design and maintain compliance with accreditation standards.
* Perform other related duties as assigned by the Program Director.
