**Responsibilities:**
Provides patient care in collaboration with a member of medical staff. The Nurse Practitioner (NP) works in a collaborative relationship with a physician provider to oversee the care delivered to a patient population or program of services. The NP is responsible for direct patient care, documentation of care delivered, adherence to hospital and nursing policies, procedures and practice standards, education of patients and staff, assurance of service excellence, completion of state and hospital-required reviews of practice, and participation in performance improvement and other activities as required.

Responsibilities
Exciting opportunity to work in a well-established high performing APP group. Responsibilities include direct care for all cardiac surgery and cardiology ICU patients. Our CICU is a quaternary referral Shock Program with high volume ECMO, Impella, and VADs. Independent management (including invasive procedures) in collaboration with dedicated CICU intensivists. Other responsibilities include routine management of post-operative cardiac surgery patients (CABG, valves, TAVR, Aortic replacement, VAD, transplant, etc), post cath lab ICU patients (PCI / Stent, IABP, Impella), participation in QA/PI, educational conferences and rounds, and student precepting. Applicant must be motivated, flexible, and independent and possess excellent clinical skills in critical care. Applicants should have 2 years recent relevant experience and be NCCPA certified or NYS NP eligible. Will consider exceptional new grads.
Qualifications
Nurse Practitioner
Requires a Master's Degree in Nursing or related field and an active New York State license in good standing. Applicants will have 5 years experience as an RN with one to three years of leadership experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. The Nurse Practitioner influences the quality and delivery of care in various roles including consultant, researcher, mentor, and practitioner. This role may be unit, program, or service based and is involved in continuous quality improvement initiatives.

Position Key Accountabilities:
1. Conducts complex, standardized patient care procedures which require experience and specialized training which would otherwise be performed by a physician but which do not constitute the practice of medicine.
2. Assesses patient's medical complaints and provides appropriate treatment.
3. Performs minor surgical procedures as delegated by the supervising physician.
4. Manages pre-operative and post-operative patients in coordination with the faculty supervising physician.
5. Utilizes advanced assessment skills to anticipate complex patient problems specific to surgery while communicating information to supervising / attending physician.

The Ithaca College Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies program is a 27-month residential program enrolling a cohort of 50 learners each year. Its mission is to educate, engage and empower physician assistants to achieve excellence through medical theory, clinical practice, and exemplary professional performance in communities that are historically marginalized, underserved, health professional shortage areas, and rural. The program is currently provisionally accredited by ARC-PA with a site visit scheduled for Fall 2025.
Our program offers several unique components:
* A dedicated state-of-the-art facility which includes 20,000 square feet of smart classrooms and a Clinical Learning Center that includes high fidelity mannekins, dedicated space for simulated clinical experiences, and an operating suite. Ithaca College seeks strong clinicians, collaborators, and interprofessional education advocates committed to advancing PA education to join the faculty team for its Physician Assistant Studies graduate program. We welcome clinicians new to academia and provide support to develop teaching skills through our Center for Faculty Excellence. We also welcome clinicians with experience and/or interest in assessment or curricular development/design. This is a full-time 12-month, multi-year renewable notice (non-tenure) position in person in Ithaca, NY. There are multiple Clinical Assistant Professor positions available.
The successful candidate will teach in our didactic curriculum, and we welcome expertise in a wide variety of clinical and scholarship areas, experience with clinical simulation, and/or interprofessional approaches to practice and education are encouraged to apply. All Ithaca College faculty are required to advise students as a component of teaching duties. The selected candidate will be provided with reassigned time from teaching to pursue a scholarly research agenda or clinical practice activities. The successful candidate would also be expected to participate in service to the program, school, and college. All principal faculty in the PA program are expected to actively participate in ongoing evaluation of the mission statement, program goals and competencies, and curriculum design.
