We seek a scholar whose research merges water resources engineering with artificial intelligence and data science to advance smart and sustainable infrastructure systems. Applicants should possess a Ph.D. in civil engineering or a closely related field by the start date of employment. They should have a demonstrated record of research accomplishments and a strong capacity for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses. Applicants at the senior level must also have a record of sustained excellence in teaching and research, including competitive external funding, national and international service, and interdisciplinary collaboration. The ideal candidate will develop an internationally recognized and externally funded research program focusing on the development of tools for water management, including real-time flood forecasting, digital twinning of hydraulic and hydrologic systems, predictive modeling of hydrologic extremes, and strategic water use to support economic development (e.g. water use for data centers and other industrial facilities). This work will discover new knowledge and develop tools for infrastructure planning considering hydrologic hazards such as coastal and flash floods, which are of relevance to South Carolina.
