Essential Duties:
Analyze the Electronic Health Record for completion and distribute communication in a manner consistent with medical, administrative, ethical, legal, and regulatory requirements of the health care system. Meets department quality and productivity standard. Analyze and process transcribed reports placed on hold for quality and accurate placement in Electronic Health Record in a manner consistent with medical, administrative, ethical, legal, and regulatory requirements of the health care system. Performs analysis of inpatient and ambulatory accounts and accurately assigns deficiencies to the appropriate provider of care. Prepare Records for Scanning and uploading of records into the electronic health record, quality check and validate records for accuracy and quality for the Inpatient, Ambulatory, Clinic, Loose.
Prioritize processing of transcribed reports in compliance with turnaround times to support quality patient care. Analyze and process transcribed reports for accurate placement in the EHR and distribution. Report and troubleshoot issues with the Transcription system functionality. Understands the hospital Dictation System and how to locate dictations
Utilizes and logs all forms of communication to track and follow up on incomplete documentation. Provides accurate summary of document status and tracking detail to support coding and compliance. Compile and validate report data for accurate Physician Suspension Status. Locate, retrieve, and deliver medical records. Analyze reports to determine status of records to be processed and entered into the Electronic Health Record. Reconcile and maintain accurate task queues of records to be processed and entered into the Electronic Health Record. Report and troubleshoot issues with the Electronic Health Record functionality. Meets productivity and quality standards
Process Protected Health Information data in compliance with regulatory requirements of the health care system and from unauthorized access and use. File and Store Records in an organized method to allow ease of retrieval and accessibility in an efficient manner. Understands and practices proper release of information for patients and/or requestors in compliance with confidentiality policies and regulations. Process and maintain health records in a manner consistent with medical, administrative, ethical, legal, and regulatory requirements of the health care system for entry into the Electronic Health Record database. Ensures that all appointments are registered appropriately in the scheduling system, including patient registration, patient and insurance information and any other information needed.
Greets patients in courteous manner and provides all the appropriate forms and documents to the patients for completion. Ensure that all copies are available for files and records.
Collect co-payments/co-insurance amounts due at the time of service. Collects appropriately for either USC Care or Keck Hospital of USC based on services provided in licensed and non-licensed space.
Verifies insurance, registers new patients, and determines which subspecialist within the Clinic is appropriate.
Performs facility electronic charge capture.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Key Qualifications

The successful candidate will be expected to establish a robust, sub-specialized clinical program, with a multidisciplinary approach working closely with the medical and radiation oncologists in the Center. They will be supported by a team of inpatient/outpatient advanced practice providers (APPs) and 24-hour hospitalist coverage. Emergency room coverage is not mandatory, except for established or postoperative patients. The position will include opportunities to participate in the education of fellows and residents and to participate in clinical research programs. Strong integration with the main Stanford campus in Palo Alto will be prioritized through hybrid faculty meetings, grand rounds, tumor boards, as well as research and teaching conferences. Escorts patients to x-ray and exam rooms, monitors patient flow, assists physicians with minor clinical procedures including staple removal, suture removal, and wound care. Casting and splinting removal and application as directed by the physician. Supply utilization tracking and ordering, including stocking exam rooms and work stations. Schedules diagnostic tests ordered by the physician as needed. Reviews and codes charge slips, submits insurance claims. Returns patient phone calls. Performs various office and clerical duties. Must work with any and every physician in the unit/department/clinic.
Essential Duties:
* Schedules patient appointments, answers general questions, obtains authorizations and pre-authorizations for patient care services. Schedules appointments with ancillary departments or other care providers as needed. Maintains master calendar for physician(s).
* Escorts patients to exam rooms, performs vitals and enters all required information in Cerner.
* Reviews and codes charge slips for patient care services rendered and/or surgeries performed in accordance with department deadlines. Develops supporting documentation for insurance claims and submits claims to insurance carriers.
* Covers front desk when needed for breaks, lunches, call outs, vacations.
* Assists physicians with minor orthopedic clinical procedures including staple removal, suture removal, and wound care.
* Ensures that physician orders for medications and treatments are implemented by the appropriate staff.
* Submits all workers compensation and HMO requests. Relays disability status to adjusters and nurse case managers.
* Returns patient phone calls in a timely manner in accordance with departmental policy.
* Casting and splinting removal and application as directed by the physician.
* Supply utilization including tracking of supplies used and ordering new supplies in a timely manner in order to keep clinic stocked appropriately.
* Stocks exam rooms and work stations to ensure all supplies are available prior to clinic times.
* Checks supplies and medications (if applicable) for expiration dates and disposes of them according to hospital and Joint Commission standards.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
* Req High school or equivalent
* Req Specialized/technical training Graduate from an accredited school of Orthopedic Program.
* Req 6 - 12 months; Combined education/experience as substitute for minimum experience At least 6 months casting experience in a an acute care setting
* Req Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Pref Specialized/technical training Graduate from an accredited MedicalAssistant Certificate/Diploma program
* Pref 1 year Preferably a year of experience as a medicalassistant in an acute care setting.
* Pref Spanish language skills.
* Pref Knowledge of medical terminology.
* Pref Familiarity with word processing, IDX, AS400 and scheduling software.
Required Licenses/Certifications:
* Req Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association
* Req Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only)
* Req Orthopedic Technologist Certified (OTC) Certification by the National Board for Certification of Orthopedic Technologists OR Registered Orthopedic Technologist (ROT) American Society of Orthopedic Professionals
The hourly rate range for this position is $29.00 - $45.20. Advanced Orthodontic Program at Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC is looking for a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA). The RDA provides both administrative and comprehensive chair-side assisting services for patients during dental treatment procedures for clinical faculty, doctoral dental students, and post-doctoral students in clinical unit(s) and/or affiliated practices. Ensures adherence to strict principles of the standard of care, cleanliness, and infection control. Ensures that all communication provided to patients/parents, residents, clinic employees, and faculty is presented in a professional and friendly manner. No travel to other locations for work, and this position does not supervise other employees.
Job Accountabilities:
Prepares treatment/clinical areas for patient care. Organizes and prepares trays for dental procedures, readies, and mixes materials, and maintains adequate inventories in each operatory. Preps patients and assists dentists with procedures. Obtains vital signs and monitors patients for complications. Cleans up following procedures, disposes of waste, disinfects area after each patient, and sets up for next patient in accordance with established procedures.
Maintains inventory of disposable materials, medications, dental instruments, equipment, and supplies in the dental operatory and those required for daily operation. Organizes supplies and equipment to minimize loss and maximize utilization. Performs regular audits to ensure the removal of expired materials. Maintains a clean and orderly clinic. Sterilizes and disinfects instruments and equipment in accordance with established procedures.
Prepares materials for making impressions and restorations, as needed. Exposes and processes digital radiography or traditional x-rays. Practices radiation safety always when using dental radiographs generators.
Assists Residents with explaining treatment instructions and treatment plans to patients and parents of Spanish speaking families.
Provides administrative support (e.g., schedule, attendance records) and problem resolution as required. Assists with patient registration, appointment scheduling, billing, filing, scanning, and other related administrative support duties as required. Obtains dental history, records from patients, and ensures health histories are recorded and current. Provides patient education and treatment planning information as directed by attending faculty providers, or by students.
