As a member of the JMU Libraries Technology department, this position will join an established team that provides and oversees technical support for JMU Libraries staff as well as computer labs within Libraries facilities. The successful candidate will lead efforts to introduce, update, and administer Libraries computing services. Duties and Responsibilities: • Acts as technical support lead assisting staff members with computer-related hardware and software issues. • Upgrades, repairs, and installs computer hardware and software as necessary. • Creates and deploys endpoint images for staff and public workstations. • Oversees projects related to major changes in endpoint management infrastructure and processes. • Manages annual technology equipment budgets, provides cost analysis, and estimates future needs. • Prepares equipment planning and ETF spreadsheets per university and state guidelines. Coordinates with Libraries departments to align technology procurement with objectives and timelines. • Serves as Libraries' Fixed Assets Coordinator. • Leads and facilitates efforts related to the implementation, maintenance, security, support, and growth of specialized areas of support within the Libraries including equipment loans, Makery spaces, 3D and thermal printers, scanning equipment, pay-for-print, checkout hardware and software, and mobile device/tablet labs in collaboration with Libraries' departments and stakeholders. • Participates in the management and licensing of academic software. • Acts as an advisor and consultant when evaluating complex or ongoing support-related needs and trends. • Evaluates service expectations and goals, recommending improvements and making adjustments when necessary. Qualifications: • Expertise with hardware and software related to Windows and mac OS operating systems. • Broad range of computing knowledge providing the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical problems. • Ability to install, configure, and troubleshoot common Windows and Mac software applications. • Ability to work independently and as a team member. • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in person and in writing. • Strong dedication to customer service and satisfaction. • Skills in human relations including tact, diplomacy, and flexibility when working with others. Additional Considerations: • Demonstrated experience with endpoint management technologies such as Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager, Veralab, and Jamf. • Ability to manage multiple technology budgets. • Ability to manage and track the lifecycle of technical inventory from procurement to disposal.
