This position plays a pivotal role in educating individuals and communities about breast, prostate, and colorectal cancer and promoting awareness of screening tests. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION: Registered Nurse (R.N.) (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED) EXPERIENCE: One (1) year of relevant experience. (Experience in community health nursing or oncology nursing is highly desirable.) LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Must hold a valid and active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Tennessee. (CERTIFICATION REQUIRED) KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES Ability to communicate effectively with participants and educate. Strong organizational skills for managing data collection and reporting requirements. Ability to work independently while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. Provides education to individuals about breast, prostate, and colorectal cancer, including risk factors, prevention strategies, and the importance of early detection through screening tests. Distributes educational materials. Administers breast, colorectal, and prostate cancer screening questionnaires to participants during mobile van outreach events. Provides colorectal or PSA test kits as needed. Refers participant to local healthcare providers for follow-up care as necessary. Educates future nursing students about the burdens of cancer and cancer prevention and treatment. Serves as a resource for nursing students by sharing insights into the role of nurses in reducing cancer. Serves as a key member of the mobile van team delivering cancer education and screenings to Shelby County and surrounding areas. Collaborate with other team members to ensure smooth operations during mobile outreach events at churches, health fairs, local health departments, and other community locations. Build relationships with community members to promote trust and engagement in the program. Maintains accurate records of participant interactions, including completed questionnaires and distributed test kits. Performs other duties as assigned.

Successful candidates will be expected to contribute primarily to teaching in the graduate nursing program. The position requires engagement in classroom, lab, simulation, and clinical-based teaching, supporting the development of future nursing professionals. The new faculty will join a dynamic group of nursing educators with a strong commitment to student success through innovative evidence-based teaching strategies, inter-professional collaboration, and fostering an environment where every student feels valued and supported. This position requires teaching, research and service duties to be conducted in person on campus. Consistent on-campus presence is required. Remote or hybrid work options are not available. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of computer/audiovisual software and technology, including learning management systems and supplemental instructional platforms. Knowledge of evidence-based nursing education practices. Knowledge of nursing accreditation standards. Knowledge of current healthcare practices including current technologies. The RN in the ER works in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, delivering immediate care to patients suffering from injuries, illnesses, or trauma. They assess, triage, and treat patients in collaboration with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals, ensuring the best outcomes in a dynamic setting. Key Responsibilities: Triage and Patient Assessment: Perform initial assessments of patients presenting in the ER, including triaging based on the severity of their condition. Evaluate patient history, conduct physical assessments, and identify urgent health issues to prioritize care. Collect patient vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration) and other relevant data to determine immediate care needs. Emergency Care and Treatment: Administer medications, fluids, and treatments as prescribed, including intravenous (IV) fluids, antibiotics, pain management, and other emergency medications. Perform wound care, splinting, suturing, and other interventions as needed for trauma or injury patients. Provide emergency life-saving interventions, including CPR, advanced cardiac life support (ACLS), and trauma care. Assist in resuscitation efforts, including managing ventilators, intubation, and defibrillation when necessary. Collaboration with Medical Team: Work closely with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other team members to develop and implement patient care plans. Maintain BLS for Healthcare Provider CPR or CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer certification.
