JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Nursing Research Programs is seeking a RegisteredNurse (RN) to join our team for a one-year, full-time project focused on cancer education and screening. This position plays a pivotal role in educating individuals and communities about breast, prostate, and colorectal cancer and promoting awareness of screening tests. This position involves serving on a mobile van that provides outreach to Shelby County and surrounding areas, including Memphis neighborhoods, churches, health fairs, local health departments, and other community locations.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION: RegisteredNurse (R.N.) (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)
EXPERIENCE: One (1) year of relevant experience.
(Experience in community health nursing or oncology nursing is highly desirable.)
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Must hold a valid and active RegisteredNurse (RN) license in the State of Tennessee. (CERTIFICATION REQUIRED)

Ability to communicate effectively with participants and educate.
Strong organizational skills for managing data collection and reporting requirements.

Distributes educational materials.

Provides colorectal or PSA test kits as needed.
Refers participant to local healthcare providers for follow-up care as necessary.
Educates future nursing students about the burdens of cancer and cancer prevention and treatment.
Serves as a resource for nursing students by sharing insights into the role of nurses in reducing cancer.
Serves as a key member of the mobile van team delivering cancer education and screenings to Shelby County and surrounding areas.
Collaborate with other team members to ensure smooth operations during mobile outreach events at churches, health fairs, local health departments, and other community locations.
Build relationships with community members to promote trust and engagement in the program.
Maintains accurate records of participant interactions, including completed questionnaires and distributed test kits.
Performs other duties as assigned.
