THIS IS A GRANT FUNDED POSITON
JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Under direction of research faculty in ophthalmology, this position will work to better understand the pathology of retinal degenerative diseases using in vitro and in vivo models.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Performs database generation and mining of existing databases.
* Prepares tissue samples for analysis.
* Performs paraffin embedding and sectioning.
* Performs plastic embedding and sectioning.
* Conducts data analysis using equipment defined software and reporting using excel and Microsoft word.
* Assists with manuscript preparation.
* Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in one of the sciences OR a combination of education and work experience to equal (8) years. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Possess strong organizational and time management skills.
* Ability to work independently and strong interpersonal skills to work effectively as part of a team.
* Ability to work with laboratory animals.
