JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Research Technician 2 provides support and expertise in the areas of molecular biology, protein biochemistry, and structural biology, specifically: molecular cloning, protein expression and purification, enzyme assay, and protein crystallography. This position maintains and orders laboratory supplies, equipment, and preparation and maintains records, logs, and laboratory inventory.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

EXPERIENCE: OR a combination of college coursework and work experience to equal four (4) years.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Skill in basic laboratory techniques relevant to a typical biochemistry laboratory, including use of pipettes (manual and electronic), pH meters, incubator/shakers, water baths, thermocyclers, etc.
Ability to perform fundamental laboratory calculations.
Ability to maintain proper laboratory records including laboratory notebook entries, and search and interpret scientific literature related to research experiments.
Participates in the planning and execution of experiments.
Performs recombinant DNA, bacterial culture, and assay work primarily related to the purification and characterization of bacterial enzymes.
Prepares buffers, solutions, stock supplies, media, and reagents as necessary.
Prepares and maintains detailed records, logs, inventories, and summary reports of all procedures and results, including graphs, scientific calculations, and statistical analysis charting.
Utilizes and maintains a variety of instruments and equipment including but not limited to spectrophotometers, chromatography, centrifugation, lab refrigerators and freezers, plate reader, biosafety hoods, pH meters, water baths, gel documentation, and light microscopes.
Attends lab meetings, prepares results for presentation at lab meetings, and completes training programs as necessary at UT Health Science Center.
Conducts library research and literature searches using various online and computer resources.
Participates in the evaluation and selection of vendors and supplies.
Maintains and orders laboratory supplies.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

The Tickle College of Engineering is in the midst of an unprecedented period of growth and success including adding over 30 new faculty as part of ambitious cluster hiring campaigns led by Chancellor Donde Plowman and Dean Matthew Mench. The Research Scientist will be responsible for the following:
Designing and executing experiments to evaluate cold spray deposition performance across metals, polymers, spatially graded, and hybrid material systems.
Optimizing spray parameters for both high- and low-pressure systems to achieve robust bonding, dimensional accuracy, and repeatability.
Characterizing as-sprayed materials and build quality using microscopy, profilometry, ultrasonic inspection, and mechanical evaluation.
Studying particle-substrate interactions, critical velocity behavior, and deposition efficiency across various feedstock types and substrates.
Conducting post-process evaluations to assess performance metrics including adhesion, wear resistance, fatigue, and environmental durability.
Implementing and refining in-situ monitoring tools to measure particle velocity, substrate temperature, and deposition rate.
Developing models and data-driven methods to correlate process parameters with deposition quality and performance.
Support efforts in developing process qualification pathways and performance benchmarks for CSAM parts.
Mentoring students, technicians, and DoD collaborators in cold spray system operation, safety, experimental design, and data analysis.
Providing technical instruction on cold spray system capabilities, maintenance, and safe laboratory practices.
Overseeing the operation and maintenance of cold spray systems and supporting characterization tools.

The Forensic Psychology Postdoctoral Fellowship at Eastern Louisiana Mental Health System is offered through the Forensic Neuropsychiatry division of the Tulane Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. The goal of the fellowship is to enhance and broaden the fellow's forensic assessment skills. Under supervision, fellows will conduct forensic evaluations at an inpatient forensic hospital (Eastern Louisiana Mental Health System - ELMHS) and in private cases. Fellows will perform a wide variety of forensic mental health assessments with forensic patients, incarcerated individuals, as well as those in the community.
A wide range of evaluations are requested at the ELMHS forensic state hospital and include: competency to stand trial (CST) evaluations, evaluations for malingering, psychodiagnostic clarification, intellectual and cognitive evaluations, and violence risk evaluations. Evaluees are justice-involved individuals who have been adjudicated not guilty by reason of insanity (NGRI) or deemed incompetent to stand trial by the court. Fellows will be responsible for selecting, administering, scoring, and interpreting psychological tests with the goal of writing high-quality integrated forensic reports.
Additional forensic assessment opportunities are available through conducting private evaluations in person in the greater New Orleans area and as a remote evaluator. The scope of evaluation questions are broad and come from referrals from attorneys, courts, and medico-legal professionals. Typical forensic cases will encompass both criminal and civil areas, although the majority of referrals are for criminal evaluations. Referrals include competency to stand trial evaluations, violence risk assessments, mitigation/resentencing evaluations, and trauma and PTSD evaluations in both federal and state court. A large portion of case referrals are for criminal responsibility evaluations.
Fellows will also have the opportunity to participate in administrative and clinical meetings, conduct forensic research, and when possible, supervise other trainees under the umbrella supervision of a licensed psychologist. Fellows will attend forensic training seminars and scheduled didactics, including landmark case seminars and expert witness seminars. The forensic fellow is responsible for leading the ACGME-required Forensic Journal Club/Research Seminar. Participation in the annual mock trial conducted jointly with the Tulane Law Clinic and the Tulane Forensic Psychiatry Fellowship is expected. Additionally, opportunities to observe a board-certified psychologist testify and receive supervision on report writing for court and discussion of expert witness skills is a frequent activity.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
* Completion of a Psy.D. or Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology with a concentration in forensic psychology at an APA-accredited program by the start of the fellowship.
* Completion of an APA-accredited internship with an emphasis on forensic psychology by the start of the fellowship.
* Eligibility for state or provincial licensure or certification for the independent practice of psychology by the start of the fellowship.

C-NRL Lab Research Program - Background
Description: The Consumer NeuroInsights Research Lab (C-NRL) at the Fogelman College of Business & Economics is a behavioral research and teaching facility housed in the Department of MSCM at The University of Memphis. C-NRL features a wide range of technologies and methods associated with consumer neuroscience, including: EEG, eye tracking, automated facial expression recognition, GSR, heart rate and heart rate variability (HR/HRV), pupilometry, and implicit testing.
Core Research Values: C-NRL applies neuroscientific methods to obtain better understanding of human decision-making, emotions, and behavior in consumption and managerial contexts. The research program promotes use of multi-method research designs that motivate new research questions and/or complement insights derived from the lab's neuro-physiological measurement capabilities. We place equal emphasis on rigor and relevance, aiming to produce novel research that has meaningful implications for consumers, managers, and policy makers. The successful applicant will join the Systems Biology of PTSD Biomarkers Consortium (SBPBC), a long-standing collaboration between the UofM, New York University (NYU), Harvard University, Brown University, the University of California San Francisco (UCSF), the Institute for Systems Biology (ISB), and Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR). Over the last 15 years, the SBPBC has measured >1 million blood-based molecular markers in >13,000 military service members and civilians with and without PTSD. Members of the Daigle Lab have successfully applied machine learning methods to these markers to enable accurate PTSD diagnosis, prognosis, and clinical subtyping. The postdoctoral fellow will lead efforts to develop novel machine learning models for integrating omics datasets (e.g., genomic, transcriptomic, epigenomic, proteomic, metabolomic) with relevant molecular pathways to further improve these capabilities. They will participate in the publication and presentation of project findings as well as assisting with funding proposals. They will also contribute to the training and mentoring of undergraduate and graduate trainees. The position offers outstanding opportunities for collaboration with members of the SBPBC and access to comprehensive high-dimensional molecular datasets for the development and application of cutting-edge machine learning methods.

The position offers a competitive salary plus benefits for an initial appointment of 12 months, with the potential for extension contingent upon continued funding and satisfactory performance. * Strong publication record in peer-reviewed conferences and/or journals

* Extensive programming experience in R and/or Python (ideally both)
* Strong writing, communication, and interpersonal skills, including a proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Research is conducted on the 500 acres that make up the Center. The Joshi lab (************************ is interested in understanding molecular mechanisms of organelle biogenesis from ER membrane using budding yeast and mammalian cell culture. Formation of organelles such as peroxisomes and lipid droplets (LDs) occur at specialized regions in the ER called ER subdomains. Our research indicates a family of membrane shaping proteins, Pex30 in yeast and MCTP1 and MCTP2 in mammalian cells, are localized at the ER subdomains, where peroxisomes and LDs form. This project will involve characterization of these subdomains to identify novel proteins and lipids required for organelle biogenesis. For our research we use yeast and mammalian cell culture, confocal and super-resolution microscopy, live-cell imaging, advanced image acquisition and quantitation methods as well as biochemical and molecular biology techniques. The Joshi lab is in the BCMB department (bcmb.utk.edu) at the University of Tennessee in the city of Knoxville.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in biology or relevant field.
Hands-on laboratory experience in biochemistry, cell and molecular biology.
Knowledge of basic cell biology laboratory procedures, including the use of balances, pH-meters, pipettes, and knowledge of sterile technique for bacterial and/or mammalian cell culture.
General background knowledge to enable meaningful understanding of assigned tasks.
General background knowledge of scientific data analysis. Computer skills are sufficient to use basic data analysis and graphing software and learn more specialized data analysis software packages.

About The Department:
The University of Tennessee Department of Biochemistry & Cellular and Molecular Biology (BCMB) is home to over 400 undergraduate majors. Housed in the Ken and Blaire Mossman (1311 Cumberland Ave.) and Hesler Biology and Greenhouse (1406 Circle Dr.) Buildings, our research teams of faculty, undergrads, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows are working on topics ranging from molecular structure to organismal levels.
The purpose of this position is to assist in the research and work done in the Joshi lab. The research technician will assist in the research project. This research will entail cell culture, protein expression and purification, microscopy techniques, data collection and analysis. The research technician will also regularly perform laboratory procedures to support ongoing research projects. This includes media and reagent preparation, instrument maintenance, and other facets needed for the research done in the lab. The work also includes reporting of data, detailed record-keeping, and some administrative tasks. The candidate may be partially responsible for day-to-day supervision of undergraduate students, as well as training undergraduate and graduate students in specific laboratory techniques.
