In this role you will support an ongoing federally funded research project exploring teamwork between patients and ambulatory clinicians and understanding how that teamwork can improve patient safety. This position is mostly remote. Hours will fluctuate weekly with the project demands.

Position Summary:
Conducts and executes complex scientific experiments and research endeavors and interprets the results.
Position Key Accountabilities:
* Plans and implements research experiments according to research protocol. Research activities may include some or all of the following: patient recruiting and screening, traditional laboratory experiments and activities, informatics, field interviewer recruiting, screening, and training and/or animal laboratories.
* Makes independent decisions as required, which may impact research team or assigned project.
* Maintains accurate and timely records which may include notebooks, records, databases, etc. as needed by the research project.
* Assists with identifying type and quality of supplies needed for research project to ensure cost effectiveness and ensure smooth operations.
* May monitor laboratory and/or other supplies to ensure sufficient inventory to support research projects.
* May maintain clean laboratory equipment and/or work area to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
* Stays abreast of new and updated protocols for research department. Participates in continuing education programs, seminars, and workshops.
* May provide guidance and training of laboratory technicians, field interviewers, research subjects, support staff and/or other assistants to ensure efficient, timely and high quality results.
* May provide updates to P.I. regarding research progress.

Certification/Skills:
* Advanced knowledge of concepts of research field assigned.
Minimum Education:
* Bachelor's degree in appropriate field of science or relevant experience in lieu of education.
Minimum Experience:

The Center for Craniofacial Research (CCR) is one of the School's flagship research units, designed to foster collaborative research in craniofacial and oral health sciences. The School of Dentistry, currently ranked number eight in research funding among U.S. dental schools by the NIDCR, is one of seven schools in UTHealth Houston, which is located in the Texas Medical Center (TMC), the world's largest medical complex. The CCR and UTHealth Houston provide access to state-of-the-art research facilities, including imaging, genomics, proteomics, histopathology cores, and pre-clinical models.

This project will be conducted across three UTHSC pediatric primary care clinics and involves qualitative interviews, stakeholder engagement, and a stepped-care intervention model.
The Research Assistant I will play a critical role in coordinating participant recruitment, scheduling and conducting semi-structured interviews, managing consent and data collection processes, maintaining study documentation, and ensuring compliance with institutional and regulatory protocols. The RA will also assist with data entry and management in REDCap, transcription and coding of qualitative interviews, and coordination of stakeholder meetings and follow-up assessments. Other duties may include data collection-related activities, including administering surveys and structured assessments, entering data into databases, and assisting with data quality control and tracking participant progress through study steps. The Research Assistant will also update research records, participant tracking logs, and databases regularly to ensure data accuracy and completeness. The role may also assist in preparing meeting materials, study packets, and documentation for the lab.

Position Summary:
Under general direction of senior research staff, conducts activities to support community-delivered research projects across several community engagement projects. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices. Conducts a variety of community-based intervention research activities including recruitment of participants, follow-up visits in home and community settings, referrals, documentation and outreach.
Position Key Accountabilities:
* Conducts research activities, under general direction, according to research. Research activities may include some or all of the following: patient recruiting and screening, community delivery of educational and motivational interventions, data collection and quality checks, participation in training and pilot project development field interviewer recruiting, screening and training and/or animal laboratories.
* Maintains orderly supplies, equipment, incentives, educational materials, intervention inventory and confidential study records.
* Maintains accurate and timely records to include notebooks, records, tracking sheets, databases, etc. as needed by the research project. Complete assessments, case notes, and questionnaires accurately in Qualtrics Data system, RedCap and other program data tracking systems; participate in data quality improvement activities and maintain records up to date on caseload of participants; document scheduled follow-ups and enter information into online database Monitor data documentation compliance and errors. Work closely with contract partners within health information exchange. Complete reports through system as needed.
* Stays abreast of new and updated protocols for research department. Assists in delivery of training related to intervention and community engagement/motivation work.
