Job Description The Statistician will have oversight of all interim and final quantitative analyses of the large amounts of data that will be generated in a newly awarded project. The project will implement a pilot sentinel surveillance system to monitor acute and chronic HCV infection in people living with HIV in South Texas and to enable HCV Data to care capacity. Duites: Provides oversight and interprets all interim and final quantitative analyses for the large amounts of data that will be generated in the project. Gathers, analyzes and interprets a wide variety of data for multiple job sites across South Texas. This position will also work with multiple departments to gather and analyze data for the new monitoring system. Collaborates with Principal Investigator to prepare reports, charts, tables and other visual aids for the project's completion and ensure project data is available for the completion of the project. Works independently and make decisions within the scope of their responsibilities as the monitoring system is being implemented. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a recognized field of science or learning which is directly related to the duties of the position with five years professional experience. At least 6 years experience (at least 9 years experience if Bachelor's degree) in positions of increasing responsibility, working with large datasets and conducting statistical and quantitative modeling, melding analytics with strong programming, data mining, clustering and segmentation. Experience working with health care datasets and working directly with federal or states health data. Working knowledge of different types of data and of the methodologies and technologies for integrating data. Strong data programming skills in statistical packages and database tools such as SAS, SQL, Python, R, Tableau, Hadoop, Hive, MapReduce and/or other large data systems. Strong technical writing skills, strong verbal skills; and data visualization/presentation. Ability to explain technology, techniques and approaches to others. Excellent oral and written communication skills and aptitude in leading and working with project teams, coordinating multiple projects. Strong problem solving skills, ability to organize and prioritize work assignments to meet project needs. Occasional travel to client sites and business meetings may be required.
