Under limited supervision, responsible for receiving clinical specimens, checking the requisitions and specimens for accuracy, accessioning the specimens, entering the orders into our laboratory information system, distributing worksheets to the medical technologists, and ensuring results are successfully reported to clients as part of our clinical services.

A job involving an appointment for infrequent temporary work, where the employee is called in as needed. The position will focus primarily on analysis, catering to chromosome, FISH or microarray. This is a dry lab technologist position that analyzes oncology and constitutional chromosomes, FISH and microarray utilizing the Leica Cytovision and Cytosure software as applicable. This position will not involve in any wet lab bench work and will only focus on dry-lab analysis. Open to hiring only ASCP-certified and experienced Cytogenetics professionals! This is a remote job for chromosome and microarray analysis, but will be onsite for FISH analysis as it involves microscopy. The offer is available from: United States. EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION Required * Education Bachelor's Degree with major course work in basic science or ASCP certification as Medical Laboratory Technician and no experience required. JOB DUTIES * Conducts basic and routine laboratory work in varied areas of chemistry, biology, physics, and other biomedical or related scientific fields. * Constructs, assembles, operates, and maintains laboratory apparatus and equipment. * Records and evaluates data in accordance with prescribed methods. * Prepares specimens for quantitative and qualitative analysis; identifies and labels all specimens to be retained. * Maintains cleanliness in work area. * Performs other duties as assigned. Under limited supervision, responsible for receiving clinical specimens, checking the requisitions and specimens for accuracy, accessioning the specimens, entering the orders into our laboratory information system, distributing worksheets to the medical technologists, and ensuring results are successfully reported to clients as part of our clinical services. Ability to work independently within established guidelines, apply problem-solving skills, meet deadlines and meet urgent patient, provider, and system needs. Ability to collaborate with laboratory staff to maintain a clean and organized work environment. Ability to perform waived testing procedures according to established protocols and regulatory guidelines. Knowledge of recording and maintaining accurate documentation of waived test results. Ability to verify the accuracy of patient information and specimen labeling. Knowledge of labeling, documenting, and preparing collected specimens for transport to the laboratory. Knowledge of relevant laboratory safety and infection control protocols. Knowledge of laboratory information systems (LIS) is an asset. Assist with the day-to-day processes in a clinical lab setting. Assist in gathering all documentation, including care plans and consent forms for all patients. Maintain accurate inventory records for all specimen. Assist with inventory database maintenance and tracking for all specimen including billing, tracking payments and collection from patients. Oversee logistics of specimen shipments, both incoming and outgoing. Receive and accession specimens into the laboratory information system (LIS). Manage laboratory billing processes and order necessary office supplies with oversight by the practice supervisor. Ensure timely communication of laboratory results including semen analysis to referring physicians. Perform data entry and facilitate Quality Management meetings and outcome tracking. Assist in preparations for FDA and CAP inspections. May perform additional duties as needed.

Ability to answer incoming calls from clients, healthcare professionals, and patients. Knowledge on how to label, document, and prepare collected specimens for transport to the laboratory. Ability to verify the accuracy of patient information and specimen labeling. Knowledge of recording and maintaining accurate documentation of waived test results. Ability to collaborate with laboratory staff to maintain a clean and organized work environment. Knowledge of relevant laboratory safety and infection control protocols. Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS) is an asset. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. EXPERIENCE: 1 year of experience in phlebotomy and specimen processing within a clinical laboratory setting. EDUCATION: High School Diploma or Equivalent required Completion of a certified phlebotomy program is preferred Performs venipuncture and capillary puncture to collect blood specimens from patients. Receives and accessions specimens into the laboratory information system (LIS). Prepares and aliquots specimens for various laboratory tests according to established protocols. Monitors and maintains appropriate inventory levels of laboratory supplies. Provides information regarding specimen collection, test requisitions, and laboratory procedures. Addresses inquiries and concerns; escalates complex issues to the appropriate personnel. Ensures compliance with all applicable quality control and quality assurance measures. Assists in the preparation and setup of laboratory equipment and instruments. Ensures the proper handling and transportation of specimens within the laboratory. Perform other duties as assigned

Working Hours: 11:30AM-8:00PM. 5 days a week. One weekend a month will be required and rotating holidays. Receive and accession specimens into the laboratory information system (LIS). Prepare and aliquot specimens for various laboratory tests following established protocols. Assist in the preparation and setup of laboratory equipment and instruments. Ensure the proper handling and transportation of specimens within the laboratory. Inventories supplies, equipment and requisitions as needed. Provides in-service training and precepts lab assistant. Participates in developing best practices in clinical workflows.
