To establish and manage the business activities for Department of Emergency Medicine (
DEM
) clinical research enterprise. Provides day-to-day supervision of all clinical research life-cycle support in
DEM
to include ensuring research quality, regulatory compliance, and optimal support of ongoing studies.Supervises and coordinates activities of nursing, technical, support and trainee personnel involved in research. For clinical studies, verifies that patients' needs are met and evaluates unit nursing, technician ad trainee care and performance.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field with a current permit or license to practice professional nursing in Texas, with five (5) years of experience as a RegisteredNurse in hospital, nursing or in an ambulatory clinic. This experience must include two (2) years in a research capacity.

Purpose
The Pre/Post RegisteredNurse (RN) is responsible for planning, executing, and evaluating the nursing care provided to the surgical patient during the pre-admission, pre-op and post-op period.
Responsibilities
Function in pre-admission, pre- and post-operative nursing capacities in the care of ambulatory surgery patients or be willing to cross train to achieve the full capacity of care
Demonstrates necessary practical, technical, or specialized skills required for the role of the pre- and post-operative nurse in accordance with standards of practice
Plans, implements, and evaluates pre and post-operative nursing care for patients based on individual, specific patient needs, and according to physician's orders.

Must have adequate understanding of operative procedures

Required Qualifications
Active Texas RN license
Minimum of three years pre- or post-op experience
BLS & ACLS Certification upon employment
PALS certification within 3 months of hire

The Pre-Admission Testing RN (PAT RN) is responsible for preparing patients for surgery by conducting pre-admission assessments, including physical examinations, medical history reviews, and diagnostic tests. This role reports to the PreOp/PACU Charge Nurse and works closely with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals. Peer roles include PACU RN and Surgical RN. Dunn Behavioral Sciences Center at UTHealth Houston, inclusive of the Harris County Psychiatric Center (HCPC), offers individualized inpatient treatment options for a variety of behavioral health disorders across the 23 units on-site. These units include treatment in child/adolescent, adult/geriatric, co-occurring disease, psychosis, and competency restoration units.
Schedule: Night Shift, 7pm-7am. Nurses work 7 shifts in a two-week period (3/4 split matrix schedule)
Orientation Schedule: All new hires will go through a 4-week mandatory orientation process:
* 2 Week Hospital Wide Education Orientation: 8:00am - 4:30pm
* 2 Week Unit-Based Orientation: The shifts are a combination of approximately 2 shifts working 7am and approximately 5 shifts working 7pm.
Please note: All new hires are brought in for the night shift. If moving to the day shift is the goal, your name will be placed on the waitlist for the internal movement into a day position, once available. This could take 6 months or longer.

Position Summary:

Position Summary:

Position Summary:
Functions as a member of collaborative interdisciplinary team providing comprehensive care to patients and families with complex healthcare needs that may be both predictable and unpredictable. Aims to provide care that is safe, effective, patient-centered, timely, efficient and equitable.
Position Key Accountabilities:
1. Performs responsibilities in a manner that promotes quality patient care and customer service/satisfaction.
2. Adheres to broad scope of practice as established by Nurse Practice Act.
3. Ensures the efficient operation of the clinic or unit by proper scheduling and planning for optimum use of staff and resources, maintenance of stock and supplies, and efficient and safe use of equipment.
4. Uses systematic approach to provide nursing care to patients and families/populations by performing both focused and comprehensive assessments through subjective and evidence based objective data.
5. Prioritizes, synthesizes and documents assessments and nursing plan of care using critical thinking and judgment.
6. Implements plan of care within scope of practice through assignment and monitoring of other nurses and delegation and monitoring of unlicensed staff. Initiates standing orders for prescription refills and labs as well as standing delegation orders where appropriate.
7. Develops and implements teaching plans for patients concerning maintenance, promotion and restoration of health.
8. Evaluates patients' response and outcomes to education and therapeutic interventions. Communicates effectively with collaborative team while escalating critical results and issues in an appropriate and timely manner.
9. Exercises judgment while coordinating care and referring patients to agencies or health care professionals for other services/transitions in care where indicated.
10. Performs on site and telephone triage using best practice guidelines and documentation to ensure patients receive the right level of care in the right setting at the right time by the right caregiver using the right equipment and supplies.
